Mama's "Ad" fur me

December 7th 2009 10:30 am

Mama often looks on Craigs List at the Dobermans and German Shepherds up fur adoption. We check it regularly and Mama has often thought of what she would say about me. She decided she'd write up an "Adoption" ad and she'll act as if I'm adoptable, but I'm really NOT ADOPTABLE just so that's clear:

This is Annie, a female Pug/Beagle mix or a Puggle. I have held her dear to my heart for the past two years and am sad to say that our journey has come to an end.

She is my baby, my friend, and my sister and she's always been there for me in time of need. I have to let go of her due to __________, but I wish it didn't have to be this way. I've grown such a bond from her. She's the one that got me started in my very own dog training business and she's my little "guinea pig."

Annie is black and has the nose of a beagle. Her ears are floppy like a beagle and also velvety like a pug and she has a curly pug tail. She weighs 25 pounds and she has an underbite.

Annie is extremely well trained. She knows over 100 tricks and commands (which I will show to any buyer and teach you the hand signals for) and she loves working with or without reward. A few of Annie's best tricks are: Itch, Bark, Whisper, Whine, Various Spin moves, Jumping into your arms, Dancing, Army Crawl, and Reach for the Sky followed by Bang!

When I got Annie, it was off of Craigs List. We lived in New Jersey at the time and had plenty of room for her to run and play, but I had no want to train her. We lived with her in New Jersey for many months till we moved to North Carolina and then our training began.

She is extremely smart and she learns quickly (though I'd be surprised if anyone out there could find something more to teach her other then gymnastic type things and flips.)

Annie is not highly motivated by frisbees or balls, but she loves stuffed animals and squeakers and she'll willingly play with them.

We feed her a little less then one cup of food a day. Annie will come with her kennel, food, blankets, and love. She'll bring that wherever she goes.

Annie is very tolerent of kids. What we're looking for in a family is:

A family with either a fenced in yard or a family that is willing to walk her daily. She is fairly high energy and needs a way to drain that.

A family who will keep with her tricks and training

A family who will allow us to visit Annie. We'll miss her more then comprehendable!

A family with cats that GET ALONG with dogs, dogs that get along with other dogs, or even both. If animals like her, she's happy.

A family with kids would be WONDERFUL!

We would like to keep in touch with any new owners and we'll need to ask some questions before she goes to be sure that the family she goes to is perfect for her.

Annie is a submissive female, fixed, little paperwork available (it's all we have from getting her), and a definite companion for life.

She's healthy and at first sight she can guarantee you a forever friend. She loves going on walks to the creek near our house and she will swim if it means being with the people or kids she loves. She loves her walks and can't get enough! Annie loves kids and attention and she also loves being scratched. There's a certain spot I'd love to show new owners.

I'm hoping to get a family soon. I wouldn't want Annie to go to anyone that will be even slightly unpleasant for her and I wish she could have a furever home here. That is unfortunately out of the question, so we will be awaiting emails for our little Annie.

If you have room in your heart for a little Puggle, then please email as soon as possible.

Mama Discovers More about Me!

Yes, there's still so much to learn! Well, today Mama found out that I won't fight with anyone unless Mama is. Mama and I will often team up and get Mama's two brofurrs. Mama's stronger then them, but with two of them she needs a little help. I'm just that help. (Friendly wrestling is big in our family.)

So every once in a while Mama and her brofurs will have a "war." Mama goes after older brofur and I keep younger brofur at bay. I'm very good at this job, but Mama's figured out that I won't go and "attack" any brofur unless Mama is too. She tried it out today and it didn't work. Oh well! Mama and I are always victorious anyway! BOL!

I was VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD!

Yes, it's true. I was good at first. Mama walked out into the front yard and Mama's brofur opened the door a nd let me run out. Mama walked back and heard everyone call me and she called me so I came right away. I went straight to her and she picked me up and put me back down when we were in the yard. Guess what Mama's brofur did! He played with me in the front yard off leash!

He had one of those really long screw-drivers and after having me jump once to get it (doing EXACTLY what Mama told him not to) I caught a scent of Ralphie and ran. I was so excited and I ran right to Ralphie's yard and sniffed. Mama called me back and told me to go inside and to stay and everything, but I followed Ralphie's scent till I got the scent of something else.

This kept happening till I'd done a big circle around three houses and I was back in Goldie, our neighbor's, back yard. I had to cut through woods and everything. Mama was the only one following me, so I totally ignored her.

In Goldie's back yard, Goldie started barking at me. At this time, brofur was here to help Mama get me. I finally saw that I was being bad and walked right over to Mama. I was VERY bad! I ignored Mama COUNTLESS TIMES! Mama's gonna have a BIG training session with me today, and I don't think it'll be stuff with fun motivation or tricks, I think it'll be strict and I won't have any treats, so I don't know what I'll be working for...

Mama will be training me today, so I've got to go.

Mama and Dog Psychology!

Mama realizes that she's focusing much more on the way that dogs think and the way that they react. Actually, what she's seen is quite amazing! Have you ever noticed that anger is contageous?

Think about it. If you have someone in your household having a bad day or in a bad mood, how does the house react? Do they get angry at the person? Does their mood change to work around the person meaning are they happy and trying to cheer the person up? What is your reaction to anger or some other so called "contageous" "illness." Hopefully, if it's not as "healthy" as you'd like, you'll try to make a difference. You'll try to just take a few deep breaths. I know everyone says to just count to ten or take a deep breath, but people that hear it don't know how much it actually works!

Now into dogs... Mama's realizing the different body forms that I react too. She's looking into my processed thoughts through the way she's standing or sitting or laying and she's decided to do it without the computer. She simply wants to be proud of having all this information on her OWN without the internet and she's writing down all the forms and reactions. Some are very well known to people, but she's looking into every slight reaction. This would be much easier if she could read minds, BOL!

Well, are Puggles hard to train? NO. Not me at least. I'm just about as easy as it gets!

We agree with pretty much everything else, except for the fact that Puggles are listed under Designer Dogs. What? I'm a hunting dog, exercise buddy, and play pal. I'm not a lap-dog or purse dog!

BUNNIE!

Mama went to Walmart and got me my very own BUNNIE! It's brown and has sewn on eyes and guess what else?! A SQUEAKER!!! Whoo hoo! It's the best! I tore out the squeaker from the bunnie's rear end once I found it!

Mama said she would have gotten a different toy if she knew this bunny had a squeaker in it. The squeaker is no where to be seen, so Mama's sure I ate it. Well, the world will NEVER know! Hee hee!

By the paw, I LOVE sitting or laying in front of a heater! Mama has a little space heater and I hog it ALL THE TIME!

Training Tip:

I won't have specific days anymore, but whenever I come up with a grreat tip I'll post it.

Imagine that you get a dog and you're a German person. You get a dog from an American family and you talk to it in German. The dog understands the German (in puppyhood) just as much as it would understand English. Be patient while teaching your dog a language.

I am Thankful; What can you do?

November 25th 2009 4:56 pm

Are you looking for a new dog? What should you do?

I know many pups will tell you to go to a shelter or high kill pound, but there's more to consider.

If you were to walk into a pound, what would you look for? The cutest dog? The sweetest dog? The calmest? The most excited?

How about looking for the following:

An injured dog that needs more care

A dog who is in the "red" section, or is about to be euthanized

Believe it or not, a BLACK dog. Yes, black. Black dogs aren't wanted as much. Studies prove it!

A dog who ISN'T a purebred. Mutts are great! I'm living proof!

If you trust your training abilities, look fur the pups that need more work then others. Can't trust many others but yourself!

*********************************************** *************

I know we seem like hypocrites with the fact that we always say to rescue dogs and we're a one dog home, but there's times when you're NOT ALLOWED to have another dog. Believe us, we'd have ten dogs if we were allowed!

Therefore, since we can't get another furry pal, we'll encourage others with the ABILITY to get these poor pooches. Consider all the things you're thankful fur this season and consider making another dog thankful fur you.

Are you not allowed to get another dog either? Well, you've seen the vets and shelter signs that say, "Now Accepting Food Donations," or something similar. Ever considered donating food to a shelter or vet? Have you ever considered donating MONEY to those rescues?

Join us with helping all of dog-kind one paw at a time.
