My weekend

This past weekend we went to the mountains, and what a beautiful weekend it was! We got up there Friday night, but it was too dark to do anything so we just chilled and watched TV. That night it did get really cold, like frosty cold... brrrrrr... and I never wanted to go out to potty, but mom made me:(

Saturday we all slept in since there was frost and they couldn't cut the grass until it dried. We went to the Flint property after lunch and I played with Echo while mom and dad cut the grass and weedwacked. It was a nice, sunny day. A little breezy, but still really nice. After we were done there, we went back to the cabin and mom cut that grass while dad weedwacked. I followed mom around for a while then Echo and I played chase. We didn't really do anything because mom and dad were working all day, but I didn't mind because I got to be outside all day and enjoy the nice day.

Sunday is what mom called an "Indian Summer" day. It was in the 70s and soooo beautiful! We went for a kubota ride, took a walk, played frisbee, visited with Randy and Sharon and just had a great time! There was nothing overly exciting to bark about, but I had a great day all the same. We did have company for a little after dinner. The guy's name was Dave and he's the farmer that is helping mom and dad with the pastures at the Flint property. He was a really tall guy, but nice. He stayed for a little while talking and when he left we got to go and sit around the fire. You know me, I'll stay out there a little, but I'm not big on the fire so I ended up going in before everyone else.

Monday was not a good day. Poor mom woke with a really, really bad migraine. She could barely get out of bed. I felt so bad for her cause we had to get home and that meant mom would have to ride in the truck with her headache. I made sure I stayed on my best behavior the entire day. When we got home mom went right to bed and I hung out downstairs with dad. Mom did get up later in the evening and I laid on the sofa with her a little until it was bedtime. Poor mom:(

Tuesday and not much happening. Mom took Echo to Country Meadows and I as none too happy about that, but it was her turn. I don't know what else we have going on this week, but I do know that we won't be going to the cabin for a couple weekends. Hopefully mom finds things we can do around here. I heard it's suppose to be really nice this weekend so hopefully some walks or play ball in the park. That would be pawsome!!

Well, I think that catches me up for now. I hope everyone is doing well and as soon as I have something to bark about, rest assure that I will.

P.S. Mom took some pix and she said she'll try to get them on this weekend to check back early next week for them.

Double visit/vet visit

Sorry it's been over a week since my last entry. Things have been a little busy, at least for mom.

Last Tuesday I had a double visit. Our first visit was to Betty. She's a homebound member of mom's church and she loves dogs and wanted me to come for a visit. She was really nice, but the little dog that was there... not so nice. That dog kept barking at me and even though it was a little dog, I didn't like it:( But visiting with Betty was nice. Boy did she like to talk! We were there for almost 2 hours and we still had to go to Manor Care. At least I was able to lay down and take a little nap while mom was talking.

After we were done at Betty's we went to Manor Care. We got there an hour later than normal and a lot of people were already in bed and asleep:( I did get to visit with some people though, the last person being my friend Joe. We stopped by to see him and he was on oxygen and he was sleeping. He told mom even if he's sleeping we're suppose to wake him cause he never wants to miss a visit with us. So mom did wake him, but he was not himself at all. He was hard to understand, his eyes looked funny and he couldn't even hand me a treat. I knew something didn't seem right and I could feel mom getting upset as well. We stayed for a little and talked with Joe and when we left, mom started to cry. She was afraid Joe was really sick and wouldn't be with us much longer. She stopped at the front desk and talked to our friend Jeanette a little then we left. I laid my head on mom's lap the whole way home cause I knew she was upset about Joe. I prayed that he would be okay.

The next day when mom came home from work, she said she talked to Connie who works at Manor Care about Joe. Apparently Joe has pneumonia and that's why he didn't look good. Mom said Connie said he is doing better and that it must have been a combination of him just waking up and the pneumonia that made him not look or sound good.

On Thursday we had to go to the vet for our yearly check up. I don't like going there, not because I don't like the people, but I just don't like going because I know I have to get shots and stuff. Echo went with me too so it was a little better. I only had to get one shot and they did take blood to be sure I didn't have lyme's which I don't:) Dad went along with us too so mom didn't have her hands full with both of us and it was nice to have him there so I could get more of mom's attention.

After we left the vet, mom wanted to stop and check on Joe. She took Echo in with her this time cause she promised Joe she would. Mom was very happy when she came back out. She said Joe looked and sounded like himself:) I am soooo happy that he is doing better!

Boring weekend!

Let me tell you, this was one of the most boring weekends ever! As you know, mom and dad went to visit with Ali and the family so we were stuck at home. Barb and Carol came to take care of us, but it was only for short periods. Barb did let us outside to play for about half hour each time, but other than that, I just slept and sissy was in her crate. Mom and dad got home late Saturday and I was soooo happy to see them! But they were so tired they went right to bed.

Sunday they went to church then mom's friend Theresa came over and they did some canning. That meant us doggies had to stay out of the way so again, boring! The only excitement was later in the night with mom. And I feel bad even saying it was excitement because of what happened. Mom was preparing her Hungarian hot peppers for canning tonight. She was cleaning them all out. I just watched her from the living room. Everything was okay then, but it was after that things happened. Mom's poor hands got really hot, burny, and swelled up a little. She tried so many different things, but nothing would help them. I was getting upset cause I could tell mom was hurting, but I was also amused by all the things she did. She tried so many different things and it wasn't until like 3am that she finally found a little relief and fell asleep. The only problem was that she fell asleep with her hand in a bowl with ice and water. Yeah, you can guess what I'm going to tell you next. I'm finally asleep like mom when all of a sudden, I am covered in water! Mom must have moved in her sleep and the bowl with ice/water came crashing down on the floor and me who was laying on the floor beside the bed. Now mom had that mess to clean up, but dry me off. It was not a good night! Thank goodness dad was on night shift so now I have an excuse to sleep all day with him:)

I don't have anything going on tonight. Grandma is coming for a visit, but other than that, I'll be chilling. Tomorrow I have a double visit. Mom said we have to visit a lady from the church then Manor Care. Thursday we have our yearly check-up and shots at the vet:( But at least we had to the cabin on Friday for a long weekend so that will make up for getting the shots.

As things happen I'll try to keep you posted. The weather is changing and I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy some of this nice cool fall weather before the yucky cold stuff comes in. I'll bark at you later in the week.

Is it summer?

I'm thinking it's summer even though the leaves are changing colors. This weather has been so beautiful and warm it makes me want to go swimmy! But the swimmy pool is closed:( Mom said this is what's called an "Indian Summer". She said not to get use to it though cause it's suppose to get cold and rainy this weekend. I guess I won't mind that though cause mom and dad are going to see Ali, Emi and Jan so we'll be by ourselves doing nothing. People will come check on us, but other than that, won't be doing anything.

Last night I went to visit with Danny. I was really wound up and Danny wasn't full of energy like usual. Mom said it was because he had a special class after school that wore him out. We still had fun playing frisbee and walking, but he was ready to be done after 30 minutes instead of our usual 45-60 minutes. Mom said he'll play more next time.

Other than my visit with Danny, not much happening around here. Mom was home with us on Tuesday with another migraine. Poor mom, she gets those so much. She said she's pretty sure this one was caused by stress cause there's crappy stuff going on at her job and Kelsey is not being too nice and accusing mom cheating her out of things. One thing is for sure and that is that mom would NEVER cheat Kelsey or anybody out of anything. Mom is the most giving person I know and if she does something it is to help people, not hurt them. I'm really upset at Kelsey for the way she's acting and it really has mom upset and she cries because of it. I'm hoping Kelsey grows up and sees that mom has always tried to help her.

Well, I guess I'm gonna go for now. Hopefully I get to play a few minutes for mom and dad leave since it's so nice. I hope everyone out there is enjoying this nice weather too!

Friend from NC

This past weekend we went to the cabin and our friend Pat from North Carolina came for a visit. It was really nice to see him cause he really likes us doggies:) Mom and dad were up until 1am talking with Pat. Me, I just chilled and Pat pet me from time to time. One thing that was a bit scary was when mom took us out to potty. There was this really weird noise coming from across the street. It really freaked me out and I wanted in the cabin bad and didn't want to go back out! Echo, well she was just the opposite, bugging to go out and see what was making the sound. Mom said she's pretty sure it was a coyote. I don't know what that is and I DON'T want to know what it is either!

Saturday Kelsey and Bandit came to visit. It was fun playing with him and him and sissy didn't even fight if you can believe that. We stayed and played while mom and dad went to run some errands. Bandit was bad though and peed on the chair. Boy was mom mad when she found out! After mom and dad got back, us dogs went for a Bota ride with mom and Pat. We rode most of the time, but she did let us out to run and play for awhile and that was lots of fun. When we got back to the cabin, Bandit had to leave so I just pretty much hung out with mom and dad. Mom was going through some bottles Pat brought her and dad was trying to put a wheel on the front gate. I checked out what they were doing then I laid under the picnic table by Pat and enjoyed the beautiful day:) Later that night they all went to Clair and Velma's for dinner, but we stayed at the cabin. I just napped while they were gone then hopped up on the sofa with mom and dad when they got back and were watching tv.

Sunday and time to go home:( As usual, mom cleaned, packed and while she did that, we hung outside with dad and Pat. Mom won't let us stay inside anymore when she cleans unless it's raining cause we act like nuts with the sweeper. Anyway, when we got home, we didn't do anything. Mom went to the barn and dad was watching football. It ended up raining pretty good so there was no chance of playing in the yard when mom got back.

Today dad is cutting grass so we got to hang out with him. Echo and I played with the frisbee for a while then just chilled under the tree and enjoyed the beautiful day. Dad said we better enjoy it cause rain for the next couple of days.

I think the only thing I have on my schedule for the week is a visit with Danny on Thursday. Mom is going to Country Meadows this week, but said it's Echo's turn. That's okay I guess since I have a visit with Danny.

So that's about all that's been going on around here. Mom still has some pictures she needs to post, hopefully she gets to them soon. I hope everyone is enjoying this gorgeous fall weather!

Park fun:)

Tuesday mom felt bad cause we were stuck in the house all day and she knew rain was coming later in the week so she took us to the park. It was soooo much fun! Mom was smart this time and brought 2 balls so we didn't have to fight over them. Of course, Echo kept trying to take mine from my mouth even though she had one of her own. I guess she thought she could hold two of them at the same time. Then again, she does have a big mouth so she probably could:D BOL After we were done at the park we went to the barn with mom. Too many people around so we couldn't get out, but mom didn't take too long and we watched her from the car the entire time. When we got back home we had another treat cause we got to go for a walk:) It was just one block, but it was nice, even though I was a little tired from playing ball.

Last night I had to stay home while Echo got to go to Manor Care and I was not too happy about that. But mom said it's only fair cause Echo hasn't gone to any visits in weeks cause she was sick. I know mom's right, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

This weekend we're going to the cabin to see our friend Pat from North Carolina. It will be nice to see him again. I don't think we'll be doing much though cause they are calling for rain off and on pretty much all weekend. Hopefully we get to play outside during the "off" part:)

My visit with Danny

Last night I had a visit with Danny. This time we started out by playing frisbee and I had a blast! Danny prefers the ball, but me, I like the frisbee better so that's why mom brought that along. Plus, Echo and I lost our balls and mom didn't get new ones yet. Anyway, I played frisbee with Danny for a little then he took me for a long walk. He is getting really good at walking me and I enjoy it a lot. Mom said it was good that Danny likes to walk me cause it gives her and me both exercise:) After our visit with Danny, mom made me stay in the house while she took Echo for her walk. No, I wasn't happy about that, but I honestly didn't want to go for another walk either. So I just relaxed til they got back. When they returned, mom threw the frisbee for us until she had to get ready for her church meeting. It was a beautiful evening and I'm really glad I got to spend so much time outside:)

Finally, fall!

Guess where I got to go on Thursday night? The barn. Yeah I know you're saying "you've been there already", but this time was different... we got out of the car!! It was around 8pm after mom cut grass and we went over to check the horses. No one was there so mom said we could get out. It was nice to be able to check the place out. Can't really get a feel for it from inside the car. We didn't stay long, but at least we got to see Tequilla and Sophie up close. It's been a really long time since we were able to do that.

Okay, onto my weekend. As you know, we went to the cabin. Of course, mom cut grass when we got there Friday evening. I don't know how she did it, but she got all the grass cut at Barton Hollow before dark. Mom was motoring! Me, I just played with Echo and followed mom around. It was a nice beautiful fall evening.

Saturday Kelsey, Tom and Bandit came in the morning. It was nice to have someone new to play with. Mom and Kelsey went yard saling, and us dogs hung with dad and Tom. We got to go on a Bota ride with them and played ball. Of course I always beat Bandit to the ball, but I did share and played nice. When mom and Kelsey got home, we all went to the propety and the bridge. We got to run around at both places, but no swimmy this time:( Mom said she didn't want Echo drinking the water after being sick, plus it was only in the low 70's and with the breeze it was too cold. Cold? Cold? Are you kidding me? I love it when it's like this! This is my favorite time of year and I dont' think that the 70's are too cold to swim. But mom is boss so we had to listen. When we got back we just hung out while everyone got ready for dinner then ate. After dinner we sat on the patio, but then Tony (one of our neighbors) stopped and invited mom, dad, Kelsey and Tom to a party so they were gone for a couple hours. When they got back we were going to make smores, but the wind kicked up and it was horrible! Embers were flying all over the place and the smoke was everywhere, I was in the cabin cause I wanted no part of that! After we went back in, everyone got cleaned up then headed to bed. It was a nice fall day and we all got to enjoy it. I really enjoyed having Bandit to play with. Don't get me wrong, I love my sissy and playing with her, but it's always nice to have someone new to play with. Plus, he played with me a lot cause him and sissy didn't get along to well.

Sunday and time to go home:( You know how I feel about that. I just wish we could live there always cause it's so much fun and much more relaxed. We just chilled and watched football the rest of the night. Dad's Raiders won, mom's Patriots lost:( Of course, mom said that was crap cause the field goal wasn't inside the post. Mom said those stupid fill-in refs don't know what they're doing and that was one of the worst called games she ever watched. I know it was cause she was yelling at the tv much more than normal.

This week mom said I'm going to see Danny tonight, then maybe Manor Care tomorrow. Back to the cabin on Friday to visit with our friend Pat who's up from North Carolina. He's a really nice guy and he likes us doggies:) All in all, I had a really nice weekend and I'm glad fall is finally here! I hope everyone else had a good weekend and was able to enjoy the nice weather:)

I missed pirate day:(

Thanks so much for all the cool pirate flags. I didn't know what they were for until mom got a chance to check today. She told me that I missed pirate day:( I would have loved to send flags to all my pals so they could enjoy them too. I promise not to miss it next year! Thanks again:D

Country Meadows

Last night I had a visit at Country Meadows. That's the new nursing home we go to since our friend Sammi from Manor Care started working there. It is a really nice place and the people love us:) Last night I visited a few people in their room, but most of my time was spent in the recreation area. Since I don't do as many tricks as Echo, they probably found me pretty boring, but I did sit nice for them to pet me:) Oh yeah, I did play the piano and mom was proud of me for that! The residents liked it to. I had two ladies who I spent a lot of time with since they stayed in the area the entire time I was there. They really liked to pet me and give me treats. The one lady would try and fool me by switching my treat to her other hand behind her back, but I could smell which hand it was in everytime. It was nice to visit and I look forward to going again.

When we got home, my Brett and Chelsea were there. It was nice to see them cause I don't get to see them much anymore. They didn't stay real long though cause they were going out to dinner with mom and dad. That gave me time to rest from my visit.

Oh yeah, since sissy got sick, the vet said she needs to eat special food and it's food I can't eat. Because of this, we can't be "grazers" anymore when it comes to mealtime. We have to have set times to eat. I didn't get that the first day and I didn't eat on Tuesday. But last night when mom put the food down I knew exactly what I needed to do and clean my bowl:) Mom said I did good and that I'll get use to the set time. I guess it is a bit better that way since I tend to eat at all hours of the night.

Echo is doing much better. In fact, she is back to her old self playing and being a bully. That's okay though cause I missed that when she was sick. I really hope this diet change helps her so she doesn't get sick again.

Well, that's about all for now. Heading to the cabin this weekend with Kelsey, Tom and Bandit so I'm sure I'll have lots of fun. I'll tell you all about it when I get back. I hope you all have a great weekend too!
