I was saddened, appalled, horrified, sickened to read that some Dogsters are upset that a family that we held a fundraiser for took a pre-paid, pre-arranged vacation. That some of the Dogsters that contributed toward saving a life now feel "betrayed". And have actually dropped this family as pals just when they need the continued support of this community.
I don't think people can really, really understand what it's like to take care of a cherished family member (human OR animal) that has a potentially life-ending illness/disease. I've done both, unfortunately, many times. HoneyBunny. Remo the Red. LuckyLucy. Perky. Harry. WINston XXLP. I know that if I could have gotten away to forget it all for even half an HOUR it would have been priceless!
I pray that those casting stones never, ever have to deal with such illness/disease. But, at the same time, I think that until they do they won't understand just how wrong they are. My love and support go out to Meaty and family.
Okay, I'm going to break my stand on leaving a comment on a diary posting, just this once....
Let's face it, you just can't please everyone. Sometimes the noblest jester upsets some. If people are dropping the recipient of the fund raiser as a Pal, then they weren't really pals to start with.
Coco Rose, you are as wise as you are beautiful!
How sad that folks would feel that way. I am just grateful that Meaty is doing so well and that his family had the opportunity to take a breather from all the stress dealing with a cancer pup brings. We will ALWAYS count Meaty and his family as our pals.
