We have been making these MALTed Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies for PEOPLE (ONLY!!) in memory of our beloved brother & original Sweetiepie, Morgan. Like Nico, Morgan was a MALTese!!
People can eat chocolate (but NOT dogs or cats!) so they go crazy for these cookies. Enjoy, all you people!

We are excited!!! We have a new cousin!!! Our aunt Nancy adopted "Petunia", a Boston Terrier!!! Since she lives in Florida where there are BEACHES and we live in the desert where there are lots of SANDSTORMS, we decided to make sandtarts!! Aunt Nancy & our Daddy are both diabetics so the Sweetiepies are trying to be more sensitive in our baking....so EVERYONE can enjoy the tea shop!!!! Plus....how shall we say this sensitively.....hmmmm....well, Petunia needs to lose a few lbs.!! So here are our sand tart cookies! Perfect for both beach, desert, or garden parties!
The Sweetiepies' Sand Tart Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar substitute for diabetics
3/4 cup brown sugar substitute for diabetics
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
Directions
Prep time: 20 minutes,
Cook time: about 10 minutes
Preheat oven to 375°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Cream together butter and sugar substitutes; beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt, mixing just until combined. Drop tablespoon-size balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets. Bake for about 10 minutes or until light golden brown.
Makes about 45 cookies.

We have had a slight change in the staff of the tea shop. Our big brother, Kodie, stepped in when our beloved brother and original "sweetiepie", Morgan, went to Heaven. Kodie always felt uncomfortable in a "tea shop." But he was willing to help us out during a difficult time and he became quite good at baking scones!! However, he feels that this spring is a good time to move on to his own interests and let us handle the tea shop on our own. So......the Sweetiepies' Tea Shop is now being managed by Holly & Nico! Keep watching and we will be having new recipes!!!
We also had exciting news this week---we were one of the diary picks!!! We were so thrilled!!! YIPEE!!!!!

Last month the Sweetiepies and our Mommy & Daddy went to Santa Fe for the day! It was very pretty and we enjoyed riding in the car and taking walks!
Then yesterday (4/16/12) us Sweetiepies and Mommy & Daddy went to "Old Town" in Albuquerque! We had so much fun---walking through Old Town (don't know WHY we aren't allowed in the stores!) and just sitting in the park! We saw lots of doggies, including another Sheltie!
We checked out some of the Southwest cuisine and hopefully have some new goodies in the tea shop!!
Love you all!

Hi, everyone!
We Sweetiepies (Nico, Holly & Kodie) went with Mommy & Daddy to "The Inn" in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, for a little rest and relaxation! Daddy had a part in a movie being filmed nearby and so while Daddy was acting, Mommy & us enjoyed "The Inn." We loved the beautiful grounds and taking walks. Most of all, we enjoyed just relaxing with Mommy! The ride to and from was fun too! Kodie loves to look out of the window....but us diminutive sweetiepies (Nico & Holly!) have trouble looking out so we napped a lot!! We had so much fun....but there is "no place like home"!! Now it is back to baking at the Tea Shop!

We are so sad....on Monday, April 4 (2011) our beloved brother, Morgan went to Heaven. We have been depressed all week but Mommy has been holding us. She is grieving but we are trying to help her too. It is hard but we know that Morgan's spirit is still with us and that he is well and happy now in Heaven. He was his usual sweet self right up until the time he took his "flight."
The Sweetiepies' Tea Shop will still be operating.....we will be serving "Angel Food Cake" in memory of Morgan! Keep watching for some Angel Food Cake recipes.
You may have wondered what happened to our BIG brother, Jack. Jack was very active---a mixed Border Collie stray that Mommy & Daddy rescued/saved. They found a wonderful home for him not far from us where he is doted on and has lots of room to run! So now it is just us (Nico & Holly) and Kodie. Of course, our cat siblings still operate "The Cookie Jar" and are a part of our family.
Thank you, dear pals, for all your thoughts and prayers for us during this difficult week. We love you!

Well, the Sweetiepies' Tea Shop is happy to announce (not too sure about that happy part) that we have a new associate: JACK THE REZ DOG!!! Yep, you heard us right (read us right??)....Mommy & Daddy have taken in a stray dog here on the rez and named him, "Jack." Be sure to check out his page if you haven't already done so. We like to tease him about the kitchen being too crowded but all kidding aside, we love him!!!
So.....as we believe in a strong work ethic here at the tea shop, we (Morgan, Nico & Holly--the OFFICIAL "sweetiepies") have decided to assign new duties to Kodie & Jack. Kodie is now in charge of scones as he is a Shetland Sheepdog and you know how the Scottish feel about their scones. And since Jack is a rez dog, we have put him in charge of (what else!) frybread! He does a good job on the frybread pizza.
So us sweetiepies can now concentrate on making the best tea and teacakes (and scones---Kodie loses interest in baking really quick). If you have any recipes, share them with us! Mommy just bought a doggy biscuits recipe book and we are enjoying it!
Welcome, Jack!! If he doesn't work out as a frybread maker, he may end up being a waiter! Kodie has REFUSED to do that! Hee-hee, Jack would look cute in a bowtie!!
Don't forget our special Halloween cookies now available!!

Hi, pals!
We put some new photos on of one of our walkies. Many ask us when they visit the tea shop, "What do you do to relax?" Well, we love to go for walks! After a day of baking (and sampling) scones, cookies, teacakes etc., we HAVE to walk in order to keep our "shape" (especially us short dogs).
We were about to roast ourselves in this heat...whew, baking ove a hot oven!! So this week we got air conditioning! Thankfully! Now we can bake up a storm.
Other relaxing ideas? We love to curl up beside Mommy while she reads. We can highly recommend the "Tea Shop Mysteries" by Laura Childs and also the "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" (a cookie shop in Minnesota!) by Joanne Fluke. We also love to watch t.v. with Mommy and our favorite is the British mystery series, "Rosemary & Thyme." O.k., it's about gardening BUT we like to use herbs in our baking.
Due to a wonderful suggestion by our cuz, Shiloh, we are now offering "Frosty Paws" in our tea shop! And Mommy came up with a great suggestion yesterday....she ate at a restaurant that had "Navajo Pizza." It is pizza on FRYBREAD! She said that it was so yummy that she didn't have any left-overs for us to sample. But we took her word for it and are now offering Navajo Cheese Pizza.
Well, we better get back to our baking....Saturday is a busy day at the tea shop. We welcome any suggestions on improvement....or a favorite recipe!!

Hi, patrons of our tea shop!
We have relocated our tea shop to Newcomb, New Mexico--but still are offering the same scones, teacakes and teas. However, we have added "frybread" (it's delicious with powdered sugar or honey on top) in keeping with the location.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!! Our special this month is Italian Cream Cake! That's Nico's specialty!
