Deshi Dishes With InuYasha!

My interview with InuYasha - 1026840. Enjoy!

Tell me a bit about your name and how you got it.

My pawrents daughter, Cassie, wanted a Japanese name for me, and she loves the cartoon, InuYasha, so that is the name she picked.

I see that your profile motto is "Demon Dog." Are you really naughty sometimes?

Cassie told me that InuYasha meant demon dog in Japanese. Little did the family know that I'd really live up to the nickname! I'm not too naughty, but I do like to chew up the walls and door frames.

Do people mistake you for being a husky? I get that a lot as a black and tan shiba.

Oh yes, I got husky a lot when I was a little puppy, but now that I'm grown, I don't get it too much.

Do you have a set time that you go for daily walks or is it varied? Also, where is your favorite place to go for walks?

I mostly get walked in the afternoon, and a short walk before bedtime. We live 2 blocks from a big park and it's fun to go there and smell all the neat smells!

Do you have a favorite toy? If so, what is it?

I love anything that squeaks. My goal is to either remove the squeaker, or chomp on it so much it no longer works! (only takes me about 10 minutes to destroy a toy)

Tell me a bit about the place where you live. Your profile doesn't mention it all all. What is the scenery like and is the weather nice there?

We live in central Illinois. The scenery is mostly corn and bean fields. We had a great summer, but mama says it wasn't at all hot or humid this summer. I love the cooler weather and Cassie can't wait to see how I react to the snow.

Do you like to cuddle or are you more independent?

I'm totally independent. Too much energy to ever relax and cuddle.

That is a pretty snazzy looking collar you are wearing in your profile picture. Do you wear any clothes at all or do you prefer being au naturale wearing a collar only?

Never had any clothes on, but mama think I may need some shoes for winter.

Bugs, have you ever caught and eaten any? Do they taste like chicken?

I LOVE bugs! How did you know?? I like to jump up in the air as high as I can and try to catch them. For some reason, I'm not allowed to try to catch the yellow and black bugs that buzz....

Do you bark when somebody knocks on the door or rings the doorbell?

Nope, I only bark when I have to go outside.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with the dogs on the shiba forum?

My mama gets so much info from everyone.

Deshi Dishes With Mia!

My interview with Mia - 387783

How did you get your name and do you have any nicknames?

My registered name is Mia Mon Amour. Mom liked the name Mia and I am their love so that's sorta where it came from. My parent's last name is McNally. So I have an Italian first name, a French middle name, an Irish last name and I'm a Japanese dog. I have lots of nicknames mostly "Me"...lately Mom's been calling me "Sweet Treat"...she must be hungry.

What is your favorite toy and why?

Are Bully's a toy??? As for stuffies, anything that I can chomp on & pretend to kill.

I've always heard that when you lose one of your senses that others are heightened. Do you have a super sniffing nose? I thought you could lead the Shiba Patrol in a nationwide cheese hunt. What do you think?

I want to be light hearted here and say yes my smelling is so intense that I stop in my tracks if I go out & it's windy. There is so much going on I can't even process it all. The sad thing to watch is that I have evolved into a "simpler" version of myself and it makes my Mom think I've lost some of my prideful Shibaness. If I hear plastic being opened I run to get food even though it's a paper towel being unwrapped. I also will lay on the kitchen floor if there is even a hint of food on the counter. I also sit at your feet if you are eating. I never did any of this before. On the flip side, I have not lost my desire to lead you when you walk me....so I would be honored to be part of the Shiba Patrol though I could lead you off a cliff.

That looks like a comfy bed your in on your profile picture. Do you ever get to sleep on the people bed? Or do you prefer your dog bed?

That bed is comfy & it's in our den. I sleep during the night (and any other time I want to) in my parent's room in my crate. It's how I was raised & I prefer it. I won't go up on a couch or a bed anymore unless you put me up there & help me down.

So, Thanksgiving is coming up... will you get any turkey? Do you ever get people food?

I might get a tiny bite of turkey but that's it. I'm less active so I rarely go off my diet. Sometimes I get a tiny bit of cheese or scrambled egg. I love chicken but I've got an allergy.

Tell me a bit about your favorite place to go for walks.

We live above a creek that runs through our community. We walk along the path along the creek. There are lots of ducks and an egret or two. I know the other dogs that walk there too. I know the smells and feel most comfortable there.

Do you like to wear clothes?

Are you kidding? I accept my halter.

What kind of dog food do you eat?

After multiple foods, I now get 1/3 cup twice a day of Eagle Pack Holistic Select Anchovy, Sardine, Salmon Meal with Oatmeal kibble with a teaspoon of low fat cottage cheese & some crumbled cod that Mom bakes for me. She also adds a 3V cap. My treat is my beloved goldfish cracker or a few Charlie Bear Beef Liver Treats from Trader Joe's. This has really helped get rid of my red, itchy tummy.

Are you pretty quiet or are you vocal?

I'm extremely quiet. I will do the low woof or the yodel for a good reason. Though many a time my parents have no idea what my reason is as they get up & look out the window.

How do you like being in a car? What is the longest road trip you've gone on?

I love the car. It's an automatic nap. The farthest trip so far is Yosemite from our home in Southern California.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with the dogs on the shiba forum?

I think the reason you humans love us Shibas so much is that we are a conumdrum of sorts. We are a riddle. We are full of contradictions.

Though I've been blind half my life, and I'm different than I used to be I still reserve the right to run & greet you at the door with sheer abandon or I will stay sound asleep in my crate so you have to find me and wake me up.

I reserve the right to respond appropriately to your every command or I will "stare" at you and do either nothing or the exact opposite of your request.

I reserve the right to give you back the affection you give to me or I will turn away in absolute disgust.

That said, thank you for the interview. On this day of Thanksgiving I give thanks for all of your support. I will try to accept a hug from my Mom today......

Deshi Dishes With Jujube!

My interview with Jujube - 951723:

Tell me a bit about your name and how you got it.

My full name is Kari-on’s Essence of Tenju. In my old home, they called me Essie. My new mommy picked out Jujube because it sounded fun. My daddy agreed because a Jujube is a red Chinese date. Red and sweet. Yep! That’s me!

Mostly, my pawrents call me Juju… doubling the last syllable of Tenju.

I read on your profile that you moved to your forever home when you were three years old. What was it like when you first moved in? Did you and Loki get along right away?

It was kind of scary when I first moved here. My new mommy and daddy were nice, but everything else was scary. The car ride was scary. Loki was a big mean bully, who didn’t want me touching any of his stuff. It took awhile before Loki and I got along. He still doesn’t like to share.

Do you have a favorite toy? If so, what is it?

My ultimate, favorite chew toy was Mommy’s underwear, but she was a meanie pie and took that away from me. Boo! Now my favorite toy sits on a high shelf. One of these days I’ll figure out how to get to it.

Tell me a bit about the place where you live. Your profile doesn't mention it all all. What is the scenery like and is the weather nice there?

I live in a nice three-story townhouse. There are lots of stairs, which is so much fun. I get to zoom past everyone on the stairs – Mommy, Daddy, and Loki are all slow-pokes. The weather here changes all the time; I don’t mind. Sometimes it’s hot and humid. Sometimes it’s rainy. And sometimes we even get a little bit of snow. Loki balks at the rain, but it’s all good to me. And I love the snow! So much fun to prance around in.

Have you ever been on a long road trip? If so, what did you think about it and where did you go?

Long road trips used to really stress me out. But after going to New Jersey a few times now, I learned that it’s not so bad. Once we get there, Loki and I get to bark at the cat and eat its food. That’s kind of fun.

Do you have any allergies?

Nope. Luckily, none for me.

What kind of food do you eat? Do you always eat all of your food or are you a picky eater?

I get California Natural. Sometimes I get chicken. Sometimes I get lamb. And sometimes I get fish. My pawrents like to switch it up. I inhale all of my food in thirty seconds flat. Better eat fast lest Loki steals my food. What’s there to be picky about? I’ll eat anything and everything. And no delicate chewing for me either. I could beat all the boys in an eating contest.

What is your favorite place to go for walks? Tell me a bit about it and what makes it so great.

I love being FREE. My favorite walk is any walk where I’m FREE. I try to get FREE as often as possible. Sometimes I escape out of the smallest crack in the front door, and sometimes I’ll gnaw on my leash to chew my way to freedom. If I’m really, really lucky Mommy will let me off-leash in a secluded, wooded area. That’s the best.

Do you like getting baths? What kind of shampoo are you bathed with?

Who likes getting baths? Of course I hate baths! I try to jump out of the bathtub as often as possible. Unfortunately, I get slathered in Oatmeal Shampoo. It smells yucky. I much prefer the smell of mud and dead animals.

Are you a very talkative shiba or are you a quiet girl?

I wouldn’t say that I’m a talkative shiba, but I do gently remind my Mommy with incessant whining when it’s time to feed me, and when it’s time to walk me, and when it’s time for me to pee, and when it’s time for her to wake up, and when it’s time for her to pet me. Sheesh, she’s so lazy!

Oh, and I’m the loudest belcher in my family. I bet I could win a burping contest among both humans and dogs.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with the dogs on the shiba forum?

It’s been lots of fun getting to know all of you pups on this forum. Smiles and tail wags to everyone!
