Nicknames: Monkey, Sweet Pea, Sweetheart, Hersh, Radar Ears, the Hershmeister
Birthday: February 4th 2006
Likes: Meeting everyone when Mama takes her for a walk, playing with as many toys as she can, playing frisbee with Papa
Pet-Peeves: Thunderstorms is the #1 pet peeve. Also, not being able to meet people. She has a unique way of voicing her displeasure to her "Mama."
Favorite Toy: Squeaky toys, i.e. ducks, mouse, otter, or just about anything soft that she can carry in her mouth.
Favorite Food: Anything in the treat category.
Favorite Walk: Central Bark, playing frisbee in the back yard.
Best Tricks: Shake hands, lie down, speak and wagging her tail on command. Hershey is becoming a master at catching treats without jumping for them.
Arrival Story: We got Hershey through a breeder in Maine that we found on line. She was eight weeks old when she came to live with us in Connecticut. It was pouring rain the day we got her. She is a great family pet.
Bio: We have another miniature schnauzer in the family. Her name is Kaci (pronounced Casey). Kaci lives in New Hampshire with her Mama (my husband's mother). There is an age gap of almost a year and a half between the two dogs. Kaci is the older of the two. The two of them have become the best of friends. Kaci also was with us when we brought Hershey home.
This past weekend Mama and Papa found a "welt" on my back. It looked so bad and ugly that it started bleeding. Mama and I went to see the vet on Monday. It is possible that it could be melanoma. Now I am on antibiotics and Mama has to put ointment on the wound.
My next visit will be on Sept. 9th. We don't want anyone to feel badly for us. Mama is taking really good care of me.
This past Saturday (5-9-15) I went to the vet for my yearly physical. Mama got the results of my blood work today. Everything is fine. The vet wants Mama to give me more food because I lost three lbs. from last year. I never finished my food and once in a while I would go two days and not eat anything at all.
When Kaci came to live with us, I knew that I had to eat my food - otherwise Kaci would eat it. And when Jessy comes to visit she will try to eat my food too.
Now I am getting more food and I really like it. I do have to go the vet next month to get my distemper shot.
Jessy visited us last week. She came here on the 13th of April and went home this past Monday. Jessy and I are getting along really well now.
Kaci is now living with us. She has been here since last October and she also got along with Jessy pretty well. Kaci can get jealous sometimes when Mama's attention is being diverted to either Jessy or me.
Jessy is almost three years old and she is becoming a really good dog. She still has some chewing issues with our toys and one of the rugs in the house. Mama will take away the toys that she does not want Jessy to destroy.
