So many second chances

Well mum worked all weekend which is good I guess. I get really jealous when she comes home smelling like all these other dogs, not to mention it means almost no dogster time at all. By the way mum works at the local animal shelter, no kill of course.

So on Saturday it was really busy, she was trying to do her job which is floater. Floater has to clean kennels which usually takes mum about 1.5 hours. So much is involved and it's alot of kennels. Well people were coming in to look at dogs and mum was running back and forth between doing her jobs and showing them. Not 1 person adopted anything and mum spent a good 2-3 hours of her day showing people.

So on Sunday mum went into work again nice and early. Yet again it was really busy and mum got really behind in her jobs, about 1.5 hours behind. She was showing so many people but the good thing is, people were actually adopting. Mum spent about an hour showing around just one group of people. By the end of the day we had adopted out 7 dogs and 1 kitten. The shelter is fairly small and gets no goverment funding. Usually we adopt out mayb 3-5 dogs a week but yesterday was just amazing. Alot of the dogs were ones that had been there for a few months as well and mum was so happy to see them get homes.

Now part of mums job is to clean the puppy isolation area and she's fallen in love with two puppies down there. They arent up for adoption for another week though. Mum really wants to adopt one but she cant decide. Both females, 8 weeks old Kelpie mixes. One looks exactly like me but she's a bit shy. The other looks like me but has a white muzzel and she's a feisty one. Mum loves them both but who knows, they might get adopted before she gets the chance to herself.

Your mama did a good job helping those pups and kitty find homes! Hope she gets a chance with one of the puppies :)

Good job on the kennel work about your Pet huh?

Mine in putting in a lot of time at the Richmond SPCA. They have a behavior modification team there and he
volunteers for that. Dad says it is pretty cool, learning and using behavior modification techniques, but... He is now trying that stuff on us too. Yuck!

Funny how you and Dad are doing similar work around the world from each other... Sad the work needs to be done in the first place.
