We wanted to wait until Sophie was at least 11 mths. or so, and a bit bigger before having her spayed. Unfortunately she developed an infection in her mouth because her baby teeth weren't falling out on their own. She was put on antibiotics for a week and the infection went away, then we took her in to have her baby teeth removed.... and the Vet wanted to go ahead and spay her at the same time. I was nervous because she's just so stinking tiny..... but she came through with flying colors!! WHEW! What a relief! The Vet ended up pulling 14 baby teeth! Little Miss Sophie is feeling MUCH better now. She's able to eat better, and her energy level is increasing.

Sophie's big Sister Tootsie passed away 10 days ago. She misses her SO much. Tonight I took her to Petco, and she was pouncing on every dog she saw. I just think she's lonely for her best friend. We all miss our Toots.

Destined to be a Diminuitive Diva

When we got Sophie 2 mths. ago, we were told that she weighed 2 lbs. This sounded like an ok weight, and I had hoped that she would eventually get up to 4 or 5 lbs. Upon getting her home, I weighed her to find out her exact weight, and to my surprise, she wasn't EVEN 2 lbs..... her exact weight was 1.8 lbs. Ok.... time to fatten this little girlie up! I began free feeding her to hopefully put on some ounces, and began adding some "raw" food to her diet. When she reached 6 mths, I weighed her and she was up to a whoppin' 2.2 lbs! I was SO excited! She was gaining! Her 7 mth. mark is quickly approaching (on Feb. 9th), and I was excited to see her weight gaining progress today. And can you believe it?!!!! She weighed 1.8 lbs..... AGAIN!! We'll still keep trying to fatten this little girl up, but soon we may have to face the fact that Sophie..... our little wanna-be High Fashion Model ...... is destined to be a Diminuitive Diva.

(Oh, and by the way..... we have taken her into the vet to have her tested for liver shunt, and she is good. Very healthy, just TEENY TINY!)
