An Update on ME!

I wanted to personally thank all of you for your prayers and good thoughts. I'm home and doing really great.

The final diagnosis is chronic pancreatitis. It's not unusual for ladies of my age. I finished my antibiotics and tummy meds and now it's just lower fat food from now on to keep things in balance. We switched me to Pedigree Weight Management Chicken & Rice and so far I like it lots. If for some reason that doesn't work, there's a nommy food from the vet just for pancreatitis that we can get.

I'm also getting a little more exercise to keep me going... or at least as a 14 yo chi with cataracts and arthritis can manage. BOL

Again, thank you so much for the prayers. Y'all are the bestest!

Thank you for your prayers!

Mommy just got the call that I can come home from the vet! I'm going to be on medicine for a few days, but other than that I'm fine!

Love and smooches to all my Dogster Pals who've been praying for me. The Power of the Paw works! :D

Please pray for me...

I'm at the vet this morning. I've been throwing up and having diarrhea since 2:30 this morning. I have an IV and they're running tests to see what's wrong. Mommy's really worried that this might be "IT". See, I'm 14 and I only weigh 3 pounds, so anything like this is very dangerous for me.

I appreciate your prayers and good thoughts. Mommy will keep you posted. I'm going to rest now.

UPDATE:

Mommy just got a call that I'm doing a lot better than what they thought! My liver and kidney function is good, but my white count and pancreatic count are up. They're going to keep me overnight with an IV. YAY. Mommy is so excited.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

I don't DO snow!

What were these people thinking? I don't even like rain and they expect me to pee in the SNOW? Whatever! I'm not walking in that stuff. My feet will get cold. Don't you remember that I'm the Princess?

I'll fix them. I'll just pee on the step. So there!

Happy New Year!

Just wishing all my Dogster pals a Happy and Healthy New Year!

I just went for my yearly check up and I did really well. I might be older (we think about 14) but I'm in good health. The vet says that I don't see much of anything besides shadows anymore because of my cataracts and I only have four teeth left, BUT I get around just fine, thank you very much, and I still love my chicken & rice soft Pedigree. I'm an awesome cuddle girl and I'm very healthy still.

I might be older, but I'm only getting better!

Hugs and cuddles to all,

Gracie Mae.

Just a little update on me.

I think I like having Stevie Ray in our house. I still sleep most of the time being the genteel older lady that I am, but Mommy and Daddy and my B have noticed that I'm a lot more active outside since Stevie Ray came to live with us. I actually run to the fence and bark at stuff instead of just staying in the dog house. I'm getting back to my sassy self which makes everyone very happy.

It is all about me, ya know. :D

Life is good.

I'm doing better and better every day. Mommy is very proud of me. I've even started taking up for myself when Buddie gets a little too hyper. I may not have very many teeth left, but I can still get her attention. I love her,but sometimes she's just rude! BOL

After Rosie died, my appetite wasn't all that good, but I'm eating more and my skin is looking great again. I'm still a pretty sleepy girl, but over the weekend, I played with Daddy a little like I used to.

I'm old, but I still got it! :D

I'm adjusting...

Well, it's been two weeks since Rosie left for the Rainbow Bridge. I still miss her a lot, but everyone's relieved that I'm doing so well. I'm eating and drinking just fine and I'm still a major league cuddle bug.

I had some teeth extracted about a week ago and I'm still on antibiotics for that. PLUS, I got some new food that I LOVE! Rosie had to be on special food for her kidneys, but mine are fine. Plus I'm a couple of ounces overweight, so the vet wanted me to have leaner food so I can get back my girlish figure. Now I'm eating Pedigree lean and it's great. I like the Chicken and Rice and the Beef and Liver flavors. They ROCK!

RIP, Sweet Rosie

I'm very sad to report that we've lost Miss Rosie.

When I left for church yesterday, she was just fine, playing with Gracie and yelling at Miss Buddie. By the time I got home from church, Rosie was in a full-blown seizure. After a panicked call to her vet, we rushed her to the emergency vet for treatment.

After a couple of hours of IV fluids, a full round of bloodwork and conference calls between our vet and the emergency vet, it was determined that Rosie either suffered massive renal or massive liver failure. Considering her age and her previous diagnosis of CRF, we decided it was best to let her go to the Rainbow Bridge and be with her beloved Sting.

Our hearts are broken by her passing, but we are thankful for every single minute of the 11 1/2 years that she spent with us.

We HATE rain!

It was raining pretty hard this morning when we woke up. We both tried really hard to burrow farther underneath the covers so Mom and Dad couldn't find us, but it didn't work. They found us AND they made us go potty OUTSIDE... IN THE RAIN! Can you believe that? We hate having wet hair. We hate having wet feet! BLECH!

Good thing Mom gave us our favorite wet food and an extra treat this morning.

We've got new food!

Rosie & Gracie are dictating this to their mom:

Rosie's been diagnosed with CRF (chronic renal failure) which is a common ailment for dogs her age. (Rosie and Gracie are both 12.) There's really not a lot the vet can do, but he did suggest that we start using Hill's K/D food to alleviate some of the symptoms and generally make Rosie feel better. The vet was a little worried that we might not like the new food since it's low sodium along with being low protein.

BUT GUESS WHAT???? WE LOVE IT!

Seriously, the Ladies have taken to this stuff like nobody's business. Miss Rosie, who's been losing interest in her food, absolutely cleans her bowl now and has even started begging for her food again. We use the canned food and Rosie knows we keep the leftovers in the fridge. When she's hungry, she'll stand in front of the fridge and bark until someone feeds her.

Hurray for Hill's K/D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
