Pirouetting on her one hind leg--she is amazingly graceful (when she isn't being really clumsy!)

Arrival Story:
The stars were truly aligned for this awesome girldog. Codie Rae was dumped in the night box at the Oakland Animal Shelter with a wire wrapped around her back leg and orders to be PTS. Somebody at OAS thought she was a great dog and deserved a second chance. The wire had been there long enough for her leg to become infected and it couldn't be saved but a local vet volunteered to do the surgery for free. A month later we saw Codie at the Oakland Animal Shelter and figured she would never get adopted because she only had three legs. We called German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California and said that we would foster Codie if they would pull her from the shelter and bring her into their program. They did and we fostered her for three months. We pretty much fell in love with her immediately but it wasn't until several people expressed some serious interest in adopting her that we accepted the inevitable and decided to adopt her ourselves. It's been a nonstop ride ever since!!

Bio:
Codie Rae wakes up every morning and says "Woohoo! Ain't life grand?!" She is just one happy girldog! Three legs? Whatever! Not a problem! Since she lost her leg at only 8 months old she has been able to adapt really well. Once we got her out of the shelter and healthy she has become fit and strong and beautiful! She is one of the fastest dogs at the dog park and consistently amazes people, who do a double take when they realize she is a tripawd (after watching her smoke past all the other dogs). Codie Rae is a fabulous teacher--never take anything for granted, make the best of each day, count every blessing, and quit whining!!
