In the last 15 months I have care for and adopted out 17 dogs. None have been like the adoption of Mickey. I spoke with a young woman on the phone about him and she said she would be here Sun. to get him. Not just to see him, but to get him. She knew she wanted him when she saw his picture on the internet. She called this AM to let me know she was going to be here but a little later then planned. I waited as we did adoptions for Mike and Pepper and when she came in, Mickey perked up like he knew her. She put out her hands and I gave him to her. They were like they belonged together. I asked her if she knew him? She smiled and said no. I think they knew each other but just had not met. :) He snuggled his tiny head under her chin and she filled out the adoption papers. It was just the strangest experience I have had doing rescue. I had to breath deep to keep from crying. He still looked at me but with a look that said "Thank you for helping me. Thank you for everything but my REAL Mom is here to get me, it's time for me to go. Good Bye Mickey. It was my pleasure to help you. Have a wonderful life. I'll keep you in my heart forever.
