Today marks my 3rd Rainbow Bridge Day celebration where Mom sends up a balloon and note to me. This year Mom is including a poem she wrote for me to honor the spot where I was killed in our backyard by coyotes:
“Beneath These Branches”
Beneath these branches is where you were,
I heard no sound, not even a stir
You were so innocent to go that way,
My thoughts are on you every day.
Our last few moments are in my heart,
How could I know that we would part.
Although you’re gone and I still cry,
I see your Rainbows in the sky.
I know you’re free and filled with glee
I’ll see you soon, just wait for me
Beneath these branches I seldom walk,
But now and then we’ll have our talk.
Of how you filled my life with love
And how you watch me from above.
A little cross, perhaps a plot,
To honor you and mark the spot
Of when God called you home to Him,
In time little one, my pain grows dim.
We give up our hearts, we take our chances,
I see new life blooming
Beneath these branches
