Arrival Story:
My roommate and I went to Washington dc's animal shelter initially to get a Katrina dog. But it turned out that they weren't ready for adoption. The guy behind the counter told us we were welcome to go back and check out the dogs they had...i knew if i did this i'd be going home with a dog for sure. Well, anyways we did....and i'm glad! Since i live in a condo, what i was looking for was a smaller dog up in age. Basically, a dog who was unadoptable, ..seems like most people want puppies....well, i wanted to give a dog a nice remaining years left on their life. One who could sleep and go out for walks in the neighborhood...one that might need some more tlc.
Anyways, when i walked back to the dog..there was a guy back there that asked what we were looking for......after i told him, he said he had a 'real sweet, friendly dog over there' and he pointed to 'Dakota'. She looked up with her tail wagging at us....We both knew right then she was coming home to us. But, it was 2 days later that she would become an official member of the family.
I do have to say that she is the best dog i've ever had. She's loyal, funny, friendly, and so damm cute too! I really do love her. I'm very lucky.
