Life after Jake...

Moving on...

I thought I'd take a moment to write an update since Jake's passing. After the news got out about Jake, the support continued to pour in from our community. The local paper did a really nice article and picture about our search for Jake. The past month has been really difficult and we all miss him dearly. Our Dakota girl seems to be adjusting. She is now eating and seems to be doing better. It's funny though, she has changed alot. She is more outgoing now, perhaps it's all the one on one attention she is receiving.

Not long after Jake's passing, we talked to the breeder and coincidentally, they had a new litter about 1 week from the day Jake disappeared. So, we decided that it was karma, fate, that these puppies were born as Jake was moving on. We decided to get one of the puppies. He will be from the same line that Jake was from. It warms our hearts to know this..that Jake will live on through him. His name is Chance...Second Chance...He will make his way west, taking his first plane ride, about the first week of December.

I will start a new page for him when he arrives and post his puppy pictures :)

Another Day...

Well we have made it through most of this day. I spent the day sending out more e-mails and notifying people about our Jake. I just wanted to take a moment to once again thank all of our new dogster friends for all their wonderful support and compassion. We love the candle page...it's very comforting. Our entire family, including our poor Dakota (GSD) and our two cats, Kiki & Tiffi are mourning. Our household is just so sad...

It's been a couple hours since we found out the very sad news about our Jake. I'm sitting her trying to send out hundreds of e-mails, in between uncontrollable crying, and chugging down some wine, to all the wonderful people out there that have given their time, good wishes, love, prayers in hopes of finding our Jake. However, I had to take a minute to thank all of you at dogster.com. You are an incredible group of people that I am honored to now be a part of. This whole experience has been quite incredible. We have had more help in trying to locate our Jake than I ever could have imagined. We have only been part of dogster for a couple of days, but you'd never know it. My family cannot thank all of you enough for your overwhelming amount of support. When I am ready, I will start a new page for our other beloved GSD, Dakota. She is so sad since Jake disappeared. She is my shadow. We purchased both Jake & Dakota at 9 weeks old from the same breeder in Illinois. They were inseperable buddies...we feel so bad for Dakota and we are trying to take extra good care of her right now. Whatever she wants ;)

I'll try to post more later, but this is also therapeutic, so thank you all for being there for us!
