As those of you who read my diary know, daddy has had a run of bad luck regarding the necessary snow chains needed for travel on the unpaved roads in our community. The first pair he bought fit the tires but when daddy got the truck stuck in the gulley they broke when he spun the truck wheels trying to get un-stuck. The second pair he bought didn’t fit the tires and he didn’t discover this until we were all the way back to our development which was about 41 miles from the store where be bought them at.

He then ordered a new pair from Amazon and requested “Next day delivery” but due to the recent snows, the delivery person refused to come up to our house stating that he didn’t want to get stuck in the snow. Daddy tried to tell him he was delivering snow chains so if he did get stuck, he could use them to get un-stuck, but the delivery person refused and instead left them at the little restaurant that is about 9 miles from where we live and told daddy that he could go pick them up, so that is what daddy did.

They were a very nice pair of snow chains but guess what…they too did not fit the tires on daddy’s truck. Yup, we all watched daddy rolling around in the snow trying to get the chains onto the tires but no matter how much he tried they would not go on.

So daddy hooked up the hauling trailer to the back of the truck and told momma that they had to take all of the construction waste that was loaded into the trailer to the trash pick up and then they could stop at the little local garage and see if they had any snow chains.

Puffy and I weren’t invited on this trip but momma told me afterwards that the roads were slippery with ice, slush and mud. They made it off the mountain without any incidents and proceeded to the trash transfer station. For those of you who have not encountered one of these, you have to back your car, truck or trailer up a steep ramp and then the workers there will unload the trash for you. The last time daddy went there he tried and tried to back the truck with the hauling trailer up the ramp and after what seemed like hours, one of the workers asked daddy if he wanted him to back the truck/trailer for him. Daddy got out of the truck and the worker hopped in and got the truck up the ramp quickly – BOL. This time, daddy managed to back the truck/trailer up within 5 minutes and the workers remember daddy and clapped and clapped and told daddy that he did a good job – BOL.

Anyhow back to the snow chains, on the way back home, daddy did stop at the local garage and they happened to have one pair of snow chains which are supposed to fit the tires that are on daddy’s truck, so they did an even exchange. Momma asked daddy if he verified there were two snow chains in the bag and shouldn’t he try them on the tires just to make sure they fit and he said “no” that he would do it later, when they got home because he didn’t want to insult the people in the garage.

So her we are on snow chain # 4 and as of yet, we don’t know if these are going to fit the tires. The weather forecast for our area is saying snow is possible Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so if we want or need to get off the mountain daddy will need snow chains on the truck. Keep your paws crossed that these snow chains fit.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

Maybe you need a snowmobile in the back of Daddy's truck, or sled, or helicopter.

Not to sound flippant or sarcastic, but why didn't your Daddy just have the garage people put them on right then and there? Then he would have someone who does snow chains frequently have them put on in a flash for him. No?
