A day in the life of Boomer

Good news, my doggie friends! It's been 10 months since my last bout with shar pei fever! My mom has finally figured out how to keep me healthy! I've even gained a few pounds, which means I'm happy and feeling good! Thanks for all of your inquiries and well-wishes!
Can't Catch a Break...March 3rd 2008 8:17 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Boomer was finally doing better and he had a little "run in" with a kittie in the back yard! He got another bite wound, which is usually a precipitating event to his Shar Pei fever episodes. We're on antibiotics now in the hopes we fend off another episode. I'm going to have start wrapping him in bubble wrap and I'll call him "bubble boy." He seems to find trouble wherever he goes!

My sweet Boomer is at the emergency hospital right now. He was pretty lethargic this morning, so I took his temperature. It was slighly elevated (103), so I gave him some meds and took him to the vet. By the time we got there, his temp was only 101, so I thought all was good. We thought we headed off a shar pei fever episode.

It's been almost three months since my last episode of shar pei fever and life has been good. Mom and I are in a regular routine with the colchicine. Sometimes it affects my tummy more than others, but all in all I am feeling great. I had a kidney function test two weeks ago and everything looks ok. My mom is hoping that these two episodes were a fluke and that it will be smooth sailing from here!
Still doin' ok!November 11th 2007 7:51 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
I had such a good day today! Mom took me to doggie day care for the day so I could get some really good exercise. Then my buddy Jake came over and we played and played and played. I've been feeling great on the colchicine. My mom still watches me like a hawk...she monitors every ounce of water I drink to make sure I'm not having any kidney problems. But I think I'm doin' alright! No signs of fever and it's been almost 8 weeks (knock on wood!!).

Well I have been on the Colchicine for over two weeks and I'm even up to the proper dosage and I am feeling GREAT! I have more energy than ever and my tummy is back to normal. Now I just hope that this stuff keeps me from having another fever episode.

Uh oh...mom came home from work today to find that I made a huge mess all over the bathroom floor. I just couldn't hold it any more. I think that this colchicine is making me feel yucky. I hope my tummy feels better soon.
Good Eats!October 1st 2007 9:04 pm[ Leave A Comment ] My mom must love me because I have been eating some good stuff lately! I must have been a good boy. Tonight I had chicken and rice with some pumpkin mixed in. It was so good, I licked the bowl clean. My mom wants to make sure my tummy feels ok while I'm getting used to this colchicine. I don't mind much...it's yummy and I feel pretty good.
Feeling SOO much better!September 28th 2007 6:35 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Oh my, I feel so much better today. I am back to doing my karate chops when I'm excited and bounding to the door when mom says "walk." I think I am finally over the worst of the fever. Tomorrow my mom is going to make me start taking the Colchicine. I know she's a little worried about what it's going to do to my tummy. We are both hoping that it helps keep the fevers at bay.
The dreaded news...September 26th 2007 8:40 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Well, over the weekend I had my second episode of shar pei fever in six weeks. I felt terrible and my mom was so worried. I don't like it when my mom is sad and she can't stand it when I don't feel well.
