The other night... daddy was patrolling our county helping keep it safe with his K9 partner when a call was dispatched to a house from an anonymous caller. The caller said that dogs were not being taken care of. My daddy got there & saw appauling conditions. There were 7 dogs on chains, 3 dead and of that alive was 1 adult pitbull & the rest puppies. The pups looked to be about 6wks old. One pup could reach another pup that had died & was so hungry was eating it:( Daddy couldn't believe his eyes... he was so mad and upset at the same time. He said of all calls he had been to that this was by far the worst. Daddy knew the dogs needed to be removed immediately. He contacted animal control & they told him that they only take strays & they don't pick up abused animals. Daddy being a cop has authority to press charges against the owner, for which he did 7 charges to be exact but daddy doesn't have authority to remove the dogs. Daddy ended up removing the dogs anyway and took them to a shelter. He took the pups, but didn't have the room for the adult pitbull so the animal shelter went back that next day to get the adult pitbull. I sure hope daddy doesn't get into trouble for doing the right thing, and I am sure really proud of my daddy!!!
Mommy immediately went into a frantic that next morning of this happening and called ASPCA. ASPCA told her to call the local law enforcement and she informed them that my daddy is the local law enforcement LOL! Anyway, ASPCA ended up opening up a case on this issue and is going to get back with mommy in a few days and boy she sure can't wait to talk to them! Come to find out, the pups were put down because the shelter said they were too far gone. The adult pitbull is still at the shelter (http://prcspca.org) but is on hold by the Sheriff dept until they can figure out what they are going to do. The lady at the shelter said either the dog will get released if the owner says she will care for the dog or either it will get released to the shelter & they will put it down. Mom asked why & the lady at the shelter informed her that ALL pitbulls are put down there, even if they resemble a pitbull!!! The lady said that our breed is too much of a liability. Mommy was furious of course and I thought she was about to go through the phone on hearing that LOL! BUT this will surely add on to what all she is going to tell the ASPCA when they call her:) go mommy!!!!
