A little something from mom :)

My dearest Roxy, you have been such a good doggie to me, even on my lazy days! I love cuddling in bed with you so we can watch re-runs of all of our favorite shows. As you grow older, it truly shows me how much you went through before I adopted you, and I'm sure your puppies are doing well, even if you were taken from them too soon. You have me to take care of now! I hope as I grow older as well, that I, like you, will stay young at heart.

Come on, Mom. We know you didn't buy me that pink glittery scarf for nothing. Let's roll.

Off leash Dog park!

Mom is taking Samson and I to the dog park tomorrow! Harvey unfortunatley must stay at home, because he is not yet full socialized with dogs or people.

The Dog park is strictly off leash!! There's also an agility course we hope to get our paws on. Hopefully the camera will answer our begs and work! BOL!

UPDATE

I'm doing fine! The vet gave me some meds and I was back to normal over night. He thinks I had an allergic reaction. Well, I couldn't have done it with all of the pawesome prayers! Thanks Dogster!

Needing Prayers..

As mom was on the computer, I lay at her feet breathing heavily. Mom turned me over and found tons of hives/bites on my stomach. I'm starting to get up on my feet and drink a little bit, but it is still uncertain. Pawlease say a little prayer for me, mom is worried sick. She will take me to the vet if anything drastic happens.

OHMYDOG! Diary of the Day????

Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even think to look until I saw all of the wonderful and thoughtful presents from my pals! Thanks so much! Whoo Hoo! Thanks Dogster and my pals for everything! Yay! I love this day in the limelight :P

RIP Little Kitty :'(

Our beautiful Sunday morning was almost ruined when a neighbor knocked on our door. I said hello, and the first words out of her mouth were, "We've got some bad news." I started to panick, "What, what, what is it?" she responded, "You've got a gray cat, right?" My heart sank,"Yes, I do". She pointed towards the road where I saw a male, gray cat laying in the road. I began to cry and made my way towards it. A young man was on the phone trying to call Animal Control. I looked and the cats eyes and realized it was the stray cat we have fed for about 2 months. It's back half was completley twisted around and he was laying there breathing heavily. I got a blanket and a Box and put him in it, making his last life the most comfortable I could. As I sit here typing now, he is on his way to heaven. God is now holding him in his arms, good as new. My heart still hurts for this beautiful feline, but I thank God it wasn't Jax or Napoleon.
I would've taken pictures of the little guy, but he was just too bad :(


Mom has been having a bad day since. We can't help but think of him

The Animal Control lady was extremely rude Good thing the little Kit had already crossed before she came. She tried giving us a citation because we fed the cat. She said that she considered it "Our Pet" because we fed it once. I feel sorry for the live animals that cross her path. She named so many things we did "wrong". I was trying to be a good samaritan :s

A dog's purpose

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why'.

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'

The six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long'.

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
* Take naps.
* Stretch before rising.
* Run, romp, and play daily.
* Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
* On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
* When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
* Be loyal.
* Never pretend to be something you're not.
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
