Arrival Story: On July 1st, 2007 my boyfriend and I moved into our first apartment together. Only July 7th, 2007, after begging and pleading to have my own dog, we finally made the journey to the pound. We walked up and down the isles of many cute, wriggly puppies and sad faces of older dogs, but none of them seemed 'just right'. Right before we were leaving I saw this pathedic, mangy, huge eared, dirty little dog. He was listed as a 2 year old Min Pin. At that moment in time I knew that this was MY dog. We talked to the lady at the reception counter, and she said that he was dropped off just an hour or so before we came. The owners left no name or any background history of the dog. After filling out paperwork, paying $60.00, and waiting 2 days for him to be neutered, I finally got to pick up my very first dog. He was fear-aggressive, peed when men approached him, had bad allergies and no housemaners. A year later, lots of training and learning about nutrition from Dogster I have a happy, healthy dog of my own. :)
Bio: Miniature Pinschers are fun, cute, brave, fearless dogs all packed into a pint size. If you are interested in adding a Min Pin to your family, please be a responsible pet parent and do your research before you add "The King of Toys" to your family!Miniature Pinschers were first bred to hunt small vermin. Min Pins are devoted to their owners and can become aloof to strangers without proper socialization. They are a very active breed, and should get ATLEAST a minimum of an hour of exercise a day. Since this is a terrier, daily walks will not be suffiecent source of exercise. Min Pins are gluttons, so pay careful attention to their food intake. A morbidly obese dog is NOT cute or funny, and you will be causing your dog more stress and health problems as it ages. Keep in mind that this dog does not truly see itself as small and will challange larger dogs. With proper training and socialization the Miniature Pinscher can become quite a joy to your family. :)
