Puppy School

I had my first real class yesterday. Puppy school is tough. I am in a class with one other dog, his name is DOG...pronounced Dee-O-Gee. He is an English Mastiff puppy, just 9 weeks old and already 45 lbs I believe his Papa said. He is very laid back & smart. I am still very uneasy and unsure about him. I bark at him and my whole body shakes. I also bark at all the people that come over around the training pen. What are they looking at? I'm trying to work here!

Momma said I am doing very well though. I am learning to focus on her & on those treats. Man those treats sure are good! *arf*

So far I can sit & lay down...although laying down is still a bit tricky. I get it like 75% of the time. My little Momma Sarah is going to take a dog trainers course so she can be a dog trainer one day. She hopes to be certified through several different schools as time goes by. She said she's doing it all for me because she loves me that much. She wants me to be the best dog and be her example when she starts to teach the courses herself.

I hope I can make her proud.

She couldn't believe it when I first got the sit command in class. She told me she wanted to cry she was so proud of me.

Well, I better go and practice some more. Momma is going to post a video of what I've learned so far in about a week or so.

Updates from Brownie

Momma bought me yet another article of clothing. So far I have an elf costume with matching elf hat & leash, navy blue sailor coat, which Momma's friends say makes me look like a sea captain, and now a t-shirt with Mickey Mouse on it covered in sparkly things. I grew out of my little blue Underdog sweatshirt, but now I can wear Peeker's clothes.

Also, Momma said that I am going to puppy school starting on Monday. I'm not sure what that means, but I will let everyone know how it goes. I just hope it means I get some treats.

Momma is going to update my page some more as the week goes by. We really enjoy working on it together & I look forward to all my pup pals seeing it.

PUPCAKES!?!

Look at these pupcakes! Yummy, they sure look good. Little Mommy, Sarah, found them online. She is planning on making them for the Charlotte Chihuahua pup party on the 19th. Hopefully, she will let me test test them. Us Chihuahua's are very particular (actually that's just a ploy to get as many free samples as I can...a dogs gotta do, what a dogs gotta do! *arf*)

I'mmmmmmmmmm Back!

*woof woof* I'm back, I'm back, I'm back on Dogster! It feels so good to be back with all of my friends here since little Momma Sarah had all of us away in Richmond, VA while she was working up there. Now it's back down to Charlotte, NC...new home & we are all finally together, including Big Momma, Sarah's Momma, Barbara.

The new apartment is very nice & roomy...although anything would be bigger than the sardine can we were all crammed into before when we first moved down to Charlotte...although I can't say that it was the Momma's fault. They didn't know. They originally came down here with the hopes that they could sell the house in Richmond & have one built in Charlotte...well weeks turned into months...and months...and months. Atleast we have a new apartment now.

Momma finally get to put all of our Christmas decorations up a week before Christmas, just no tacky lights outside.

Momma also found out that the sale of the house fell through yet again…this time around the people that wanted to buy the house could not secure the loan they wanted, but are still trying to see about other ones.

The Momma's said that we really didn't get to celebrate Christmas, since it all went into securing a new apartment, moving costs, paying bills, and us. I can tell that they have been depressed lately, "Why can't the house just sell!" they say...so I make sure to give them some extra love and attention.
Momma says we have each other so that’s all she really needs.

She made sure that I got my first series of shots; got micro chipped, and was neutered though. I also got an elf costume with a hat & matching leash, & fancy cookies from Three Dog Bakery. I must live in a good home because I know that they would do anything to make sure that we are all happy and cared for.

Little Momma Sarah is also going to put me into puppy class, since I can get trained for free, after I recover and complete all of my puppy shots.
Momma also says she wants me to become more trusting and social with new people and dogs so she can take me to Chihuahua and small dog pup parties. In fact, she is going to take me to the Charlotte Chihuahua meetup in January. It'll be my very first...my coming out party. Gosh, I better find something to wear...a Chihuahua's gotta look good ya know!

Howl-O-Ween

I'm so excited that Howl-O-Ween is coming up. Momma says that I'm going to be in a costume contest at Petco with my brother Peeker the Pekingese. I am going to be a red lobster and my brother Peeker is going to be a fisherman...*arf* he's trying to catch me.

I think I might be a little unsure with all the other doggies around, but I bet Momma will put me in a cart.

My brother Peeker and I will have pictures, so stay tuned!

My Petco Invitational Race!

Big news everyone! *arf ARF*

I competed in the big Petco Invitational today. My big Momma, Barbara, arrived at Petco half an hour before the race. We were able to take several pictures of the event, mingle with the other pups and families, we recieved a bunch of coupons, and also got some free treats & goodies from the Natural Balance people.

I met several Chihuahuas just like me too. It was very nice and I was less scared because they were just like me. There was this one little black and tan Chihuahua that just wouldn't stop barking...I'm not quite sure what his problem was, but at least his Papa had the courtesy to hold him most of the event. Two Chihuahuas that I met were named Bitsy, a little 13 week old tan Chihuahua and a pretty little lady named Tinkerbelle...Miss Belle was wearing a lovely pink dress with daisies on them. My Momma Sarah bought me a bright blue harness with a daisy on it and I have to say, I think I had a connection with Tinkerbelle because of that (oh yeah!)...well, okay, maybe not THAT much of a connection. She did ignore me most of the event. What's with that!?! Maybe I was too young for her, she was two years old. *arf*

Well, let me tell all of you pups how the big race went...

I competed against 3 other Chihuahuas in the first heat...among them Bitsy & Tinkerbelle. The other Chihuahua I competed against was a regional champion all the way from Miami, FL...they competed in the big Fastest Chihuahua race in California and didn't win, but still...they were regional champs!

So...My big Momma Barbara brought me down to the starting gate. My paws were shaking. Sarah was at the other end at the finish line. The referee let us know that it was time to race..."On your mark, get set, GO!" The clear gate lifted up and...well, all of us were like, "What is this? What is going on!?!" Most of us ran back to our Mamas or Papas, then wouldn't ya know it, little innocent Bitsy, who no one suspected, started trottin' down the astroturf toward his Mama's little boy. I started to follow him, but I wasn't fast enough. I got distracted by the crowds cheers. There were so many voices. Where was my Mama!?! I just wanted my Mama! *Bow wow* Then I felt arms rap around me...it was my Mama Sarah. I wasn't that far from the line after all. She scooped me up and I finally finished the race...last. At least I finished though...last. I have to add, my Mama & I practiced racing at the park & Mama said I was really fast, but the park is a whole lot different than the actual track.

Well, it was my first race. It was an interesting experience and overall I did truly enjoy it. Who knows if I'll ever race again, but I do know that I love being around other people and meeting new pups. My Mummy is now planning on bringing me to a Chihuahua pup party in Charlotte in August. I can't wait! *ARF*

Practicing for the Petco Invitational :)

It's time to race soon. I have till Saturday morning to practice. Mummy and I were do'in sprints last night before bed. I was just runnin' runnin' runnin' like the wind! I hope I do well at the Petco Invitational. I'd atleast like to win a ribbon...Momma says I don't have to be first, because no matter what I'm first in her book, but I do want to make her proud. Bow wow! My very first race...on your mark, get set, GO!

What's going on

This evening I'm going on a trip. It seems the kitties and Peeker are all use to these long car trips to Richmond. What's a Richmond? Oh well, as long as I have my family I know I'll be fine.

Also, today I snuggled with both Peeker and Polkadot. They never mind sharing a dog bed with me and Dot makes me feel pretty because she likes to groom my fur. I'm still not sure the big difference between kitties and doggies, but perhaps one is that kitties, like my kitty sister Dot, really likes to groom and wash herself all of the time. I guess another difference is that a kitty would never think of picking up a piece of dog poop in their mouth and walking around with it...I did that this afternoon on one of my walks with Peeker. Momma was totally grossed out and told me that doggies shouldn't do that...then I licked her face. *arf*

Well, I better go pack for my trip. Let's see, I'll need some bones with the cheese and peanut butter in them, some chew sticks, some toys...no wait, all of my toys...
