Arrival Story:
Molly's daddy has wanted a dog for a few years now and really is a dog person. Her mommy (me) is only comfortable around dogs she knows well or dogs that show no aggressive behavior and are not jumpy. Love a friendly dog once I get to know them though. So, we had been negotiating a dog for several months. We would periodically go to the local animal shelters to get an idea of what we both liked. We had agreed not to do anything before the summer of 2007 but on Saturday, 3/3/07, we saw her at the City of Berkeley animal shelter and she was the first dog we both really liked. BUT, she had just been found and there was an 5 day waiting period so she wouldn't be up for adoption for a few days so we couldn't even take her out of the kennel. Daddy went back to see her on Tuesday, 3/6/07 and it was fate. The Humane Society was literally walking out the door with her to "adopt" her. The way we understand it is that the Humane Society often takes highly desirable dogs, like her, to ensure that they get adopted. Daddy spoke with them and expressed interest but said that we would both have to meet her before we could commit. They saw the logic in this and they were very willing to wait a day to see if we adopted her and if not would take her the next day. Daddy called me to let me know the situation and said that he had a real connection with her. I was in San Jose for the day but my boss was nice enough to let me leave at 2:30 to get to the shelter before they closed at 4:00. I literally fell in love with her. Not a mean bone in her body. She passed the temperament test with the highest marks possible. We learned that she was dropped off in the night box with no notes or anyone calling looking for her. She was most likely abandoned by her owner for any number of reasons. The shelter said she is a Manchester Terrier with a bit of "who knows what" mix and her vet agrees. She looks like a Doberman Pinscher puppy but is full grown and only about 14 pounds. Best estimate she was around 14 months old when we rescued her. We signed the papers and paid the adoption fee on Tuesday, 3/6/07 but she had to be spayed so we couldn't take her home until the next night. We picked her up from the vet in El Cerrito on Wednesday, 3/7/07 around 6pm and took her home. Our lives will never be the same and we couldn't be happier.

Bio:
Molly is our first dog and is perhaps becoming a bit spoiled. She is a rescue dog with no known history but seems to want nothing but love. She finished Sirius obedience training in May, 2007 and we are continuing to work with her and her terrier tendencies. She wants to play with other dogs when she is off leash and we are looking for fun, easy going dog friends so we can get her better socialized.

I was left in the night drop box at Berkeley Animal Care Services with no notes or tags. No one called looking for me. It was the so scary! But, it led me to my furever family so I know it was worth it.

My daddy wanted a dog for a long time and he really is a dog person. My mommy got bit by a dog when she was a little girl and she was only comfortable around dogs she knows well or dogs that show no aggressive behavior and are not too jumpy. So, they had been negotiating a dog for many months.

They would periodically go to the local animal shelters to get an idea of what they both liked and had agreed not to do anything before the summer of 2007 but on Saturday, 3/3/07, they saw me at the animal shelter. I was the first dog they both really liked, BUT, there was an 5 day waiting period so I wouldn't be up for adoption for a few days so they couldn't even take me out of the kennel.

Daddy spoke with them and expressed interest but said that mom had to meet me before they could commit. They saw the logic in this and they were very willing to wait a day to see if I was adopted and if not they would take me the next day. I knew there was something special about my Daddy so I passed the temperament test with the highest marks possible. :0)

Daddy called mommy to let me know the situation and said that we had a real connection. Mom was in San Jose for the day but her boss was nice enough to let her leave at early to get to the shelter before they closed at 4:00.

We literally fell in love. Mom and Dad signed the papers and paid my adoption fee on Tuesday, 3/6/07 . I had to be spayed so they couldn't take me home until the next night. They picked me up from the vet on Wednesday, 3/7/07 around 6pm and took me home. I was a little groggy and the anesthesia made me get sick on my new bed but they didn't even get mad at me. They just cuddled me and helped me know that I was safe and loved.

Our lives will never be the same and we couldn't be happier.

Here are the Rules:

Because it's Christmastime there are changes to the rules. Each player needs to write a short note to Santa Paws and list 5 things on their Christmas list this year. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their letter with 5 requests. Then choose 5 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play. AND... since it's Christmastime give them each 5 bones or treats.

Dear Santa Paws,
I have been a good girl most of the time, not perfect but I sure do try hehehe.
This is my first Christmas in my furever home and I am so happy to be celebrating with Mom and Dad. Now that I have a family there is nothing else I really need for Christmas this year but a Christmas wish for all the pups in need of a home. If you are feeling generous and really want to get me something though, here are a few ideas:

New Wubba (to destroy)
Christmas Bobo
Tricky Treat Ball
Treats to fill my stocking
New Rope toy to chew

I tag:
1 Fritz
2 Little Man
3 Star
4 Bella Felice
5 Gunner
