I bought Ivo from a reputable breeder in North Carolina. He was probably the last of my "bought dogs" and shared his life with many rescue and shelter friends. I got him because I was a single woman living alone and wanted a more intimidating looking dog than my Husky and Golden Retriever, although as it turned out the first thing I would have said to any would-be attacker was probably "don't hurt my dog!"
Bio:
Ivo passed away in the fall of 2005 but we still miss him very much. He had his moments as a young dog and did NOT like other boy dogs even though he always had time for the ladies. He scared off some prospective boyfriends, but they probably weren't worth much anyway. As Ivo got older, he mellowed towards a few little male dogs, even allowing Hector Chi to sleep next to him on the couch. Ivo had a lot of arthritis as he got older and needed help getting around. Happily his dad (one of those NOT scared off by him) was more than willing to carry him up upstairs to bed every night and down again in the morning even though he weighed 90lbs. And when that got to be too much, we camped out in the living room so he didn't have to sleep alone. We had 12.5 years with Ivo and treasured them all. I'm sorry I mowed your squeaky pig buddy. I hope you are squeaking him at the bridge.
