That Big Pup Gets Me Every Time!

Daddy took me down to see Mimi 'n' Maggie today. Actually he had to babysit the 3 yr. old human tornado! Well, Maggie Mae is a 4-legged tornado and 3 times my size...she's a golden-doodle 'n' still a puppy! Don't get me wrong, I luv her but can only take so much! Talk about a living, breathing snowpup! We romped all over the yard in the snow but Maggie gathers it up in her fur 'n' runs 'n' plops on Mimi 'n' me burying us in it. We tried to help my skin niece build a snowman, but Maggie preferred BEING one, so that was a lost cause. Boy, we luv the snow though. I hope we have lots 'n' lots this winter! I asked Santa for a snowboard so I can slide down the hill by our house! Maggie Mae is big enough! Maybe she'll pull me around on it!!!

Talk About Humiliation!

It was inevitable! She finally did it and guess who was the victim? ME! Mommy came home with an ominous bag from Target. Usually that means at least a stuffy-toy for me or some treats. Well, I got treated all right but not the kind you can eat nor the kind that makes you feel good like a tummy-rub or massage. No, I got dressed up!!! In a lady Santa Suit! It was absolutely humiliating. Then to add insult to martyrdom, she got out the camera and took my picture! Not only that, but she's put the pictures on the cards she's sending to my pup friends! I've never been dressed in more than a bandana and now this! What's next? Probably antlers and a "Rudolf" nose.....n-o-o-o Mommy, you DID NOT HEAR THAT!

Trick or Treat Frustration!

I am one exhausted pup! All these great kids come to our house, knock on the door, I run to greet them and what happens? Daddy scoops me up so I can't run out 'n' greet them. What does he think I'm gonna do? Eat them? Run away? Besides it's dark outside. I don't run when it's dark! I just want to say hello to all the little ghosts, goblins, witches, princessses 'n' such that come calling at our door! They all seem to know Mommy. She says they're from her school. I don't understand why she doesn't just invite them in so I can play. No, she stands at the door to hand out our candy 'n' Daddy does the doggy scoop so I won't jump on anyone! As if! All evening I've been running from front window to front door frantically trying to get to the door before Daddy does. It's a lost cause 'n' now everything is over 'n' everyone's gone home. Boy, am I one frazzled pup!!!

I Was Just Staking My Claim

Ya know, sometimes a girl can't win! All I wanted was for Cuzzin Muppy to understand just who is the boss around here, at least as far as the kitchen floor and surrounding territory is concerned. She gobbles down her food then stands there staring at me while I, in a much more ladylike fashion, gently munch on mine. At least I give mine two or three extra munches before swallowing while she inhales hers! I like to take my dry food out of the bowl, over to a nearby area rug and then eat it. But with Muppy visiting, I don't dare do that or my food will disappear in a vortex of grab, slurp and swallow! So-o-o this morning I decided that I would take my time and be particularly fastidious about eating my breakfast and make ol' Mups suffer with envy mixed with admiration for my good manners. Then, just to make sure that she completely understands that I rule the household, after I finished eating I went over to her bowl and peed on the floor next to it! You would have thought I had dismantled the entire house brick by brick! Daddy turned this scary red color, said very unkind things to me (just read between the lines) and banished me from the kitchen! And, Muppy smirked! That's it exactly, she SMIRKED! All I was doing was helping Daddy by trying to establish the proper decorum for doggy mealtime and look what happened! I'll just let Muppy eat all she wants from her bowl and mine tonight, then just wait and see what Daddy'll find on the floor then!!!

Oh No! Not THAT PLACE Again!

This is not gonna be a good week! I can just tell! I overheard Mommy 'n' Daddy say the "K" word. No, not Kiss and not Kitty Kat! It wasn't Keep Off either. It was the dreaded kuh, kuh, kuh (I can hardly get it out) KENNEL! I should have suspected something when they started talking 'bout clothes and trip and New York all in one breath. Then I heard the "S" word. (NO, not THAT one!) This one is much worse than that one! It is s-u-i-t-c-a-s-e. I call it the Monster, cuz it grabs Mommy 'n' Daddy's clothes 'n' then they have to follow it to whereever it's going 'n' that means I go to the You Know What! At least I'll have a little company though, cuz cousin Muppy's gonna be there with me. Poor thing, her Daddy hasn't told her the "K" word yet. She's in for a very unpleasant surprise. Maybe if we look suitably pathetic when they leave us behind they'll be guilted into bringing some big Doggy "S's"! (Surprises!)

Well, It Wasn't a Possum!

We were so sure it was a possum! It came out at night; the cats next door were on my deck stalking it; and, I could smell it! I could see its little beady eyes at night and hear him rustling around under the deck. Of course, Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me get close enough to really give it a good look when we were outside. I tried every maneuver I could but no luck. THEN this morning I saw it.....almost nose to nose, 'cept he was on one side of the glass door and I was on the other. (Talk about frustrating!) But, it wasn't a possum: it was a raccoon! Mommy, silly lady, stood there and oohed and aahed about how beautiful he was! I just wanted him off MY deck. He acted like he wanted to come in for a visit. (Like that's gonna happen in my lifetime!) Finally I think he became so impressed at the sight of my sharp pearly whites that he decided to slink off. Mommy says he was just tired and he needs to sleep in the daytime, but I know what's what! He was frightened of the ferocious 'senji! I guess Daddy'll have to borrow our neighbor's trap once more. We've caught bunnies, woodchucks and now a raccoon! That's what happens, I guess, when you live near the woods. I sure am glad the deer don't fit under our deck. I don't think I could stand it!
