Life & Times of Rascal Corgi

After vacation

Mum & Da were on vacation all last week. They took me for more walks. I got to go on a ride 3 times! 1 time to the cemetary in the country, 1 time to a park in the country & 1 time on a picnic near a lake. I liked smelling the fall leaves. I chased a squirel too!

I had to go to the vet kennel for a few days while Mum & Da drove to eastern Iowa & to see Brody Boxer & his Mum.

The vet walked me each night while I was in his kennel! That was nice of him. I liked to be in the grass & smell that place too.

I was very glad to see Mum come get me. My old leash had broke right before I went to the kennel. Mum brought home from the trip a new bright blue leash. Plus she brought me some new kind of treats. They are tasty & shaped like a football. If I gotta go to the kennel I am glad Mum brings me back new tasty treats!

New ramp & new ride

Last week we got new carpet on our deck. Da took some of the extra carpet & made a new ramp with the new carpet for me. Looks great! The ramp is straighter board & is really alot higher of the ground!

Da sold the old stationwagon (Rascal mobile) & bought a newer car. He bought a van. We took a ride in the van on Sunday. I can still jump onto my step & climb into the van. We went to the town cemetary. We walked around & I snopped around a new area of the cemetary. The weather was very nice & we had a good time.

Next week-October 6-10-Mum & Da will be on vacation. Then they will be home more to have quality time with me=yea! Mum says if the weather is good we will go one day on a picnic. I like picnics. Mum brings along food for me & a bowl for water. We will walk around the park area so I will have a new place to smell. But I have to go to the Vet kennel again the end of the week while Mum & Da drive to see Brody Boxer & Mum's daughter. Bummer!

tornado siren in night!

In the middle of the night I woke up to hear lots of loud, long thunder.
I am very scared of thunder.

About 2:30am (Mum said) the city tornado siren blew!
It is an awfull loud sound.

Mum jumped up out of bed & quickly put on clothes. She grabbed her purse & a flashlight. Then she told me we had to get to the basement.

I did not want to go anywhere with her! I thought she wanted me to go outside. I could hear loud thunder & rain, so I was not going outside.

I put on the brakes! No way was I going anywhere with Mum.

She got my leash & told me we had to go to the basement right now.
We went downstairs & went into the closet under the stairs.
(This is the safest place in our house if a tornado does hit)

Mum has a weather radio on a shelf in the closet. She has an emergency kit with extra canned food & opener, a candle & matches & a 1st aid kit. She has bottles of water too. She has a container of my dog food also. Plus there are big blankets to cover our heads.

Mum turned on the radio & we listened to music & waited. About half hour later the siren blew again. This was the all clear siren. No tornado hit our house & no tornado hit my town.

So Mum wanted to go upstairs back to bed.

I did not want to go upstairs. Mum tried everything but I was not going out of that closet. So I spent the night in the basement closet!

In the morning I heard Mum's alarm ring & barked to let her know. But I was still not coming upstairs. Mum brought my leash down to the closet & hooked it to my colar & told me we were now going upstairs & outside for a walk. The weather was nice again.

I'm glad Mum has the basement closet ready if a tornado does hit, but I am more glad no tornado hit our house this time!
