Goodbye Angel

I don't know how to start...Baby Lucy just couldn't wait any longer.She fought pyometra and she was a winner. Our vet just couldn't believe it..But Cushings was stonger than her.Last night she stopped walking she couldn't stand on her feet.So we called Aggelo(our doctor) to come and help her to the bridge.

When is it time to let go?

I don't know how to express my feelings ... Lucy's condition is critical at the moment we have given her predinsone to stop het hct from dropping and avoid transfusion yet this didn't happen but added more incidents of dairrhea... The only thing we haven't done so far is bone marrow spiration as it is very painful and she won't be able to handle anaesthesia...It is probably neoplastic induced aiha and I just want to do the best for her. Surgery is out of the question and all we want is make her feel comfortable. But how do you let go? I just can't...The vet told meno more tests..that I should concentrvte on making her feel better and get ready to let her go when the time comes. How can I let my baby go???

Cushings and autoimmune anemia update

Baby Lucy is very lethargic these days.She is also diagnosed with autimmune hemolytic anemia besides her Cushings and this makes it extremely difficult to treat either condition.
We can't give her steroids for the anemia due to Cushing's and it is very dangerous to give Lysodren due to her anemia...
We are devastated.Her HCT is very low (19,18, 17,15 in the ltes CBCs). We will do an abdominal ultrasound,a coomb's test and an acth stimulation on Monday.
It's so difficult to take the right decision at this point.We feel completely lost.All we want is to make her feel better and more comfortable.We can't cure Cushing's and I'm reluctant dministering Lysodren as it is too risky for her...So we will fight the anemia in the best way possible.
We need all the prayers of the world.

Diagnosed positive for Canine Cushings

Lucy has been diagnosed positive for Cushings this evening. We have spend two weeks ruling out, everything else diabetes mellitus, kidney failure, thyroid problems and the rest of the list. So, today we did the low dose dexamethzone which waspositive for Cushings...Tomorrow we will do the high dose to determine which type the pituitary or the adrenal one...However what worries us the most is her low HCT levels, and a non resposnive anemia (her HCT is 15-17).
We are devastasted we love our baby so MUCH!!! She has beensuch good girl t the clinic the doctor is impresed with her patience and with her strength and courage. Despite her condition and its severity she is still wagging her tail and licks the vets hands s if she knows that he is the one who will get out of this.
We hope that tomorrow we will get a positive result nd pituitary related cushings that we will be able to fight, even at this age ( she is 12 years old and 9 months old).

A new sister

Ih, my Dog we have a new sister...She came home a while ago and mom and uncle Nikos won't let me meet her!They say she too stressed today and that we will meet tomorrow.I just can't wait!!She is 10 months old and she is a German Shorthair Pointer and her name is Katherine Zeta Jones...I think we will have a proper photo shooting and she will have her own page shortly.

Our hearts are broken we have lost our Bit

Little Bit and her family have been such dear and close friends to all of us here. When her chemo failed broke our hearts and we still can't accept the fact that she is gone.
Honouring her memory we will not state how sorry, sad and heartbroken we are…
Little Bit has been a glowing sunshine for us in times of great desperation.She has been there to tell us that hope never dies, never fades away.
We do not want her to be remembered in tears, all she wanted in life was to bring joy and laughter in people's lives.
Even though our hearts are broken, Bit you will forever be remembered with love and smileys.Teaching others that happiness and meaning lies in the simplest everyday things is the most difficult thing to do, bringing out the best of people and teaching them what a grolious fight life is one of the most precious gifts to others.You have succeeded in those and in many more girl.

Scared my mom yesterday so very much!

but honestly wasn't my fault.I mean I was having my noon beauty nap and when I woke up ...I couldn't open my eyes and had a weird grin on my face.My eyes looked as if they were in real pain and everything was pitch black.
Yep, I was frightened and was moving slow and all I wanted was a cuddle!I believe this set up an alarm at home and vet talk.After a long afternoon in pin and needles and an even longer night and with the help of miraculous benadryl I woke up this morning and I feel SO much better.My eyes are red but I can open them up and I demanded my walkie and breakfast!
Mom says that it must have been an allergic reaction to something,those darn allergies but later we will get my exam results..
I feel sorry for one thing only...I passed the treats she was giving me last night (yes I know how could I have done such a thing!!)and now I think I need them all!
