Going for rides in the car. Eating.
Pet-Peeves:
He hates it when other dogs mark HIS property. He does NOT like cats. However, since he went blind he doesn't try to eat them anymore... he just sniffs around and tries to figure out what they are.
Favorite Toy:
Winston likes to play with his stuffed Bill Clinton toy and shake it so hard the arms and legs flop about. We don't think that he is making any political statements when he tries to destuff "his president", but you never know.
Favorite Food:
Winston loves his ACTIVE CARE dog food by Breeder's Choice. He steals extra portions any chance he gets and can open the food container even though it has been "dog proofed".
Favorite Walk:
He likes to go for a walk ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.
Best Tricks:
He is very good at looking scary. He is also very proud of his skills on the teeter totter.
Arrival Story:
Winston was found in Watts (a not so nice section of Los Angeles) by a nice fireman who kept him for 1 1/2 years. He then came to live with us in 2000.
Bio:
This big dog used to be very afraid of water. Now he can walk politely up the ramp to the dog wash where I can give him a bath.
He was also a bit skittish if you reached for his head, now he is a good boy and doesn't make people think he will eat them if they touch his head.
He earned a Canine Good Citizen award from the AKC and is a very well mannered boy.
Winston recently went blind. He went blind quicky in just 2 weeks. He is adjusting well.
He now has a seeing eye dog named Hobo. Hobo really lives downt he street at a junkyard, but he comes to work every single day to lead Winston around.
How cool is that?

Winstons Poem
I’m big, I’m brown, I’m blind and fat
I know I know, some don’t like that.
I used to be thin and pretty fit
I was also young and was lovin it.
Now I’m stocky and cannot see
My job is much harder than it used to be.
I watch our shop. If intruders should come
Growling real loud, I make them run.
They see my teeth that shine in the light
And know that they are in for a fight.
They don’t know that I am blind
And that if they got close, I’d be in a bind.
So I won’t tell them, I’ll let them think
I’ll eat them up before they can blink.
When the family comes back and opens the door
I’ll be napping on the floor
They won’t know the work I’ve done
Or how I made that robber run.
But they love me cuddle me and hug me hard
They put my pictures in the Christmas card.
I’m their boy their big protector
Who once got noticed by a movie director.
Things are better than where I used to be
In a place called Compton, running free.
I had no home I ran the streets
Until a fireman I happened to meet
He took me home and took care of me
Until he found my family to be.
They took me in, gave me home
They even gave me a bunch of bones.
I’ve got a house, a yard and toys
I think I’m a lucky boy.
I’m worth my weight in kibble they say
We haven’t been robbed since I came to stay.
I’m important, I guess its true.
Don’t make me get all mushy on you.
Just walk me feed me let me play
And I’ll keep watch everyday.
