Arrival Story:
Feo Butters Stroud was running the streets of Stroudsberg, PA when he was found. His owners could not be found after checking shelters and in newspapers, so Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue took him in as a foster dog. A wonderful home took him in and kept him for awhile.. teaching him to trust, getting him vet care and getting him settled. This foster home was going away on vacation, so we were taking him just for a short stay. Butters just fit in sooo well that everyone agreed instead of moving him again he could stay with Fugas, Pandora, Rudi and Nika until he found his forever home.

Bio:
While Butters may be about 10 years old, people often think he is 3-4 due to his energy and spirit. Everyone who meets him can't help but fall in love with this wonderful old man. He is a true treasure. People see Butters and ask.. "Aww what's wrong with him?" He was found with frost-bitten ears where the top portions of them chipped off. He tested positive for Lyme disease, he has the start of arthritis in his back legs and neck, he had a few horrible hot spots that are in the process of healing, he has bald patches around his neck as he was found with a collar too small for him worn into his neck. His coat is very dry from being outside too long and needs healing. He is hand shy and afraid of certain things like black boots, metal bowels, and hands. He has a low thyroid level. He has some ugly Red Yeast stains under his eyes and on his legs. Also had a small growth on the eye, which was removed at the same time as being neutered. Butters is also partially deaf as he can only hear very loud noises. The good news is you can often sneak eating without him even knowing! However, everything that can be treated is being treat now. And despite all that may have happened to him, he has the most amazing temperament. He loves ALL other dogs, loves kids, likes people as he is learning to trust them again, and all in all he just doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. Wherever his next stop in life may be.. they will be lucky to have him. No one could ask for a better dog. I have been asked why would anyone want a 10 year old dog? Isn't it too heartbreaking as he won't be around that long? All I can answer with is... you never know how long any being is going to be here with us. And honestly, you'd have to meet Butters to understand how ANY heartbreak is worth having to spend ANY time with this dog. I will enjoy every moment I have with Butters and I will never regret a day of it. And I am sure his forever home will feel the same. As for Feo's name.. well...Feo was his name given by the rescue since we were on the F letter and on an American Indian theme. However, at the time we didn't realize it also means ugly in spanish. The folks who found him, were calling him Stroud after where he was found. Last but not least, we call him Butters because he is SOOOO much like Butters on South Park! Why Is Husky Rescue Needed?
Siberian Huskies are beautiful, affectionate, active, and intelligent. Yet, they are often misunderstood by people who are not prepared for the very traits they were attracted to in the first place. Many Huskies are commonly found in local animal shelters; there are many reasons why these affectionate dogs end up there. Many are escape artists who are picked up on the streets and are never reunited with their owners. Many owners are not prepared for the energy these dogs have and the exercise they require. Typical huskies are highly intelligent, easily bored, and apt to get into trouble if they don't receive proper obedience training and sufficient exercise. Just like any other breed, huskies are not for every household. Although they can be stubborn and mischievous, they are loyal and loving dogs who enjoy family members of all ages. So Many Ways To Help!
Are you interested in making a donation of time? Do you live in PA, NJ, DE, NY, WV, MD, or CT? Do you want to assist the rescue in our efforts to both educate the public and to help huskies find their way into new homes? There are many different ways to help Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue Inc. (TOTTSHR). You can either volunteer from home, head out on the road or get involved in both. Butters crossed the rainbow bridge today 1/17/2011. This is a sad day for my wife and I, But we know butters is in a better place now. He can wear his silver harness and run and play without pain.
We will miss you butters you can't be replaced.

Butters would like it if his fans could help other dogs like him find a loving home free of abuse by donating what ever they can to "Tails Of The Tundra" .

It finally snowed it's not much but I will take it. I went out back and have my first snow cone. My sister is crazy in this stuff, so I had to play with her and open up a can of butter's wup butt.
