Hey everyone...Malcolm here! It's been a while...a whole year actually! I'm now 2 years old and feeling good! My mom and dad are worried because not only am I in my "terrible twos" but since I'm a dog (1 human year=7 dog years) I'm now a teenager, too! Dad keeps making jokes that I'll be driving soon...he's so weird!
It's been another good year as the only dog in the house! I wouldn't mind having another dog brother or sister, and I'm sure at some point I will get that! I may be on the move to a new place next summer. I really like my current home, I've got my hair all over it, so I've claimed it as my own! If we move, I'll have to start all over again! It's okay though, I'm sure I'll make a lot of new friends in my new neighborhood!
There have been lots of visitors this year. They say they're coming over for parties that mom and dad throw, but I know the truth: they just want to see me in all my cuteness!
Well, I think that's all I have to report for now. I'm looking forward to my day of fun with mom and dad...we'll go on a long walk, get a new toy and maybe even a puppy birthday cake...yum! Bark at 'ya later!

Today is my 1st birthday! (Or as close as mommy and daddy can guess!) I was 8 weeks old when they adopted me from the shelter, so they just counted backwards and today is the day they picked! I can't believe I'm already a year old! It seems like only yesterday when my mom and dad came into the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago, IL and saw me in my cage. I was a pretty mellow dude, I didn't want to scare them off! My mommy knew right away when she saw me that I was the one! Daddy was a bit nervous that I'd be too small, but boy did I show him! 8lbs at 8 weeks, and already bigger than a full grown chihuahua! I'm about 20 now, and still cute as a button! After just 5 minutes with me, they were both convinced that I was the one they had to have!! I was so happy! Of course, we were all devestated when we found out that we'd have to be apart for 2 more days, so I could have my surgery and be "fixed". It was a rough seperation, but we got through it, and we've been together ever since.
As I look back on my first year, it's been really awesome! I've made lots of new puppy friends in my neighborhood, and helped mommy and daddy meet the neighbors! I'm a people person through and through! I've gotten to do lots of traveling, though I REALLY hate that car thing! The destination always makes up for it though, especially when I'm going to my "grandparents" house! MommaT spoils me rotten with toys and love, and lets me take over the house while her 3 kitties are tucked away in the bedroom. I try to play with them, but they don't like me too much. And Grandma and Boppa Groth let me play and play all day long with "Auntie" Shadow. We'll play from the time we get up until bed time, and then - I sleep hard!! I've had 1 night away from mommy and daddy, but I got to have fun with my babysitter, Sarah. We had lots of fun, and she took me on a fun walk!
I'm looking forward to what the next year has in store for me. I'm sure it'll be filled with puppy friends and treats! Hope I get some good presents tonight!!
Peace,
Malcom Reynolds Thornburgh (aka, Captain Tight Pants!)

Hi puppy friends! This is my first "diary"! My name is Malcolm Reynolds, and I'm really excited to meet lots of new friends. My mommy and daddy say that I'm very social. I LOVE to meet new puppy friends! When I see them coming down the sidewalk, I'm so excited to meet them, that I sit down and won't move until they are close to me, no matter how much my mom and dad pull! Then, when they are close enough, I pounce on them with lots of love! It's even better if they have a puppy, too, because then I can pounce on them and say HI to them, too!
Big dog are my favorite! I like to stand on my 2 hind legs so I can be at eye level with them. Smaller dogs are harder for me to play with, cause I can't jump on them! But, overall, I just love to play!
You can see a picture of me playing with my "Auntie" Shadow. That's my mom's parents dog, so it makes her my auntie. She likes to put my whole head in her mouth, but I always get her back! We play non-stop when we go to visit there, and then we both sleep, HARD!
Well, that's me for now. I hope you'll ask to be my friend!
