Arrival Story: Tara was a free to good home pup given to us 13 years ago. My sister knew the woman who had the litter and she gave us Tara. Despite the fact she gave us her AKC papers, we had her spayed as soon as she was 6 months old. We don't condone breeding without the betterment of the breed as the #1 purpose. Tara is a wonderful little girl and very petite. She has also gone deaf, but I think that has made her even more lovable!
Bio: Tara was very healthy for the first 10 years of her life, but these last three have been more challenging. In 2004 she tore her ACL. While in surgery to repair the torn ligament, her heart started to have problems and they had to abort the surgery. In 2006 she had a collapsing spell and was referred to the UofM to see the cardiologist. She has an enlarged heart and a grade 3 AV block. On November 13, 2006 she celebrated her 13th Golden Birthday even though the odds were against her to survive. She is doing very well with medications given her current medical issues. We try to keep her as stress free as possible and she has very limited physical activities. She is an inspiration of will and determination. We are blessed. All the vets at the Uof M thought she was a wonderful reflection of the Chow breed. Tara passed away this morning(7/22/07) in the company of her family. We are going to miss her dearly.
Thank you for honoring me with Diary of the Day, Dogster.
It is a very special honor to be chosen, especially for my memorial entry. I would also like to thank everypup for my bridge day and Diary of the Day pressies. I may be gone but I will forever be mom's first little Chow girl and hold a very special place in her heart. Lately her heart breaks often but things are slowly improving.
Thank you again for such a special and wonderful honor. I know the diaries are not functioning like they are supposed to but at least they can be read if you can get to the page. :)
It was a Sunday morning 7 years ago that our life changed and you left us physically forever. We have never forgotten you and think of you all the time. You were our first little Chow girl and because of you, Mei Li is now in our family. We moved and had to leave your beautiful memorial tree behind but are so happy that it survived those couple difficult earlier years and started to thrive. I knew your tree would make it, it had the best guardian angel.
My dearest angel, I love you and thank you for over 13 great years.
First of all, thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes. I would have responded earlier but I had finally found a wonderful little Chow that needed a home and had to send her to my family. Mom "found" her (with my help of course) right at my birthday time and when she saw it was another little black female she just had to find out more information on her. She contacted the shelter and they said she was a very sweet gal. Mom asked if she could bring Mia because she wanted her opinion on the whole situation. Mia and Mei Li got along fine. They acknowledged each other and that was that. Mei Li was called "Luna" at the shelter but since she was an owner turn in, mom wanted to change the name. Mei Li means beautiful in Chinese so that was perfect.
Thank you all again for helping me celebrate what would have been my 20th birthday.
