Arrival Story: Mia was an unclaimed stray from Animal Control. We put a hold on her sight unseen when we heard she was brought in. The staff gave us glowing reviews about her personality. It was agonizing waiting for the stray hold to expire, but when she was officially up for adoption we drove 500 miles each way to pick her up and bring her home. She is not only very sweet, but also very beautiful.
Bio: Mia was found wandering in the middle of winter. She was shaved down and had a clipper burn on her rear that was totally hairless. She was also underweight and full of tapeworms. I was so happy that she was never reclaimed. With time, love, and proper nutrition she has totally recovered. I feel as if she was sent to us. She brings us such joy. I hope everyone will consider a rescued dog or cat and please spay or neuter to reduce the number of unwanted animals each year.
This is the second birthday we celebrate without you and this year has been just as difficult as last year.
You were such a constant source of pure love and joy in our lives. I don't even think there are words I could say that would even come close to expressing the love we felt for you. Like the childhood phrase "I love you to the moon and back" but even that wouldn't be enough. What I can promise is that I will love you forever. You will always hold a very special part of my heart. I admired your will to live and how hard you fought to stay with us.
Mia, we love you with all our heart. Happy Birthday with all the precious angels above
Also, thank you to all the die hard Dogster pals for wishing her a happy birthday today. It is so nice to know she is remembered.
A year ago heaven opened it's gate for the most precious soul. Mia, you were so loved and we were truly blessed to have you in our lives. Not a day goes by that we don't miss you. Rainbow Bridge got a very special angel on 3/30/14 even if that meant it left a shattered heart here on earth.
No words can express the pain we felt and still feel when you left us but our loss would have been much greater if we had never had the chance to have you with us. You were so kind and so loving. We miss your snuggling and we miss your joyful presence. Most of all we miss having YOU with us.
We love you sweet girl, yesterday, today, and forever.
Mom and dad found a little shih tzu mix on Petfinder named Betsy and went out to see her today. Teddy went along for the ride and decided he liked this pup (since she is smaller than him). After visiting for awhile, they decided to take her home.
Today she spent some time with daddy watching football and also took a nap with him. Maybe once she settles, she won't want to do that, but daddy was so happy she did. I used to watch tv and nap with him all the time and he loved it. They know that she will never be me but by adopting a new little girl in my honor, they are preserving my memory and saving another dog in need.
At the shelter her name was Betsy but the family isn't sure if they want to keep it. Mom would sort of like to change her name to Salad and call her Sally for short. Long story short.....she had a dream and in that dream she adopted a black/white shih tzu named Salad. This girl looks a little bit like me in the markings but the pug in her really stands out. Mom laughs about the ears, BOL! Perhaps a silly name is just what she needs.
I'm hoping 2015 is a great year for my family and I hope this new little one will bring much joy to the family.
Love and blessing to all my Dogster pals. Be well and be happy
