Arrival Story: Mia was an unclaimed stray from Animal Control. We put a hold on her sight unseen when we heard she was brought in. The staff gave us glowing reviews about her personality. It was agonizing waiting for the stray hold to expire, but when she was officially up for adoption we drove 500 miles each way to pick her up and bring her home. She is not only very sweet, but also very beautiful.
Bio: Mia was found wandering in the middle of winter. She was shaved down and had a clipper burn on her rear that was totally hairless. She was also underweight and full of tapeworms. I was so happy that she was never reclaimed. With time, love, and proper nutrition she has totally recovered. I feel as if she was sent to us. She brings us such joy. I hope everyone will consider a rescued dog or cat and please spay or neuter to reduce the number of unwanted animals each year.
A year ago heaven opened it's gate for the most precious soul. Mia, you were so loved and we were truly blessed to have you in our lives. Not a day goes by that we don't miss you. Rainbow Bridge got a very special angel on 3/30/14 even if that meant it left a shattered heart here on earth.
No words can express the pain we felt and still feel when you left us but our loss would have been much greater if we had never had the chance to have you with us. You were so kind and so loving. We miss your snuggling and we miss your joyful presence. Most of all we miss having YOU with us.
We love you sweet girl, yesterday, today, and forever.
Mom and dad found a little shih tzu mix on Petfinder named Betsy and went out to see her today. Teddy went along for the ride and decided he liked this pup (since she is smaller than him). After visiting for awhile, they decided to take her home.
Today she spent some time with daddy watching football and also took a nap with him. Maybe once she settles, she won't want to do that, but daddy was so happy she did. I used to watch tv and nap with him all the time and he loved it. They know that she will never be me but by adopting a new little girl in my honor, they are preserving my memory and saving another dog in need.
At the shelter her name was Betsy but the family isn't sure if they want to keep it. Mom would sort of like to change her name to Salad and call her Sally for short. Long story short.....she had a dream and in that dream she adopted a black/white shih tzu named Salad. This girl looks a little bit like me in the markings but the pug in her really stands out. Mom laughs about the ears, BOL! Perhaps a silly name is just what she needs.
I'm hoping 2015 is a great year for my family and I hope this new little one will bring much joy to the family.
Love and blessing to all my Dogster pals. Be well and be happy
Mia, it was six months ago that you left us and not a moment goes by that I don't think of you. I wish with all my heart that you could have had another recovery but that was not to be. I'll never forget that moment when the ER vet called to say you were failing and we needed to come down immediately. The news was devastating and our hearts were broken. I loved you so much, Mia. You meant the world to me. I appreciate every moment we spent together and thank God for the time we had with you. Today and every day, I will love you.
A Bridge Called Love
It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
