So, it looks like Smokey will be heading to stay in a foster home right here in NH! A wonderful Dogster has offered to foster him in her kennel. The only problem is that Smokey needs to be transported from Wisconsin to New Hampshire (and hopefully back again in a few months!). They are still in the planning stages, but if anyone can help transport Smokey from Wisconsin to New England, please post Here. Me and mom (well...mostly mom, BOL) will help transport anywhere in New England.

Any pup willing to help?!?

We are very sad

Mom is very sad today. She hardly ever goes in the forums anymore, but used to quite a bit. That is where she met Buddy a long time ago. Buddy and his mom worked through a lot of the same behavior issues that me and my mom worked through. We both had our ups and we both had our downs. Our moms talked a lot on the forums and celebrated our successes and offered support in our times of need.

Mom was perusing the forms today and read this thread: Had to give them up. Mom has been bawling her eyes out for the last two hours since she read this. Buddy's family has come upon some hard times and they are now homeless. They had to surrender Buddy and his brother Smokey to the shelter. Buddy, unfortunately, did not pass his temperament test and was sent to heaven. Smokey is still looking for a home.

Mom is so sad for Buddy's mom. There really are no words that can explain the relationship between Buddy and his mom. They were the best of friends and Buddy was his mom's life. Buddy's mom depended on him for more than the normal human/dog relationship. While Buddy was not a service dog by title, he was very in tune with his mom and helped her through some very difficult times. If you look at his page, you will see a picture of them together and you can feel the love between them.

Mom is so very sad for Buddy's mom and has been crying all morning. If you get a chance, can you please head over to Buddy's page and offer some words or encouragement and compassion? Some prayers for Smokey would be good too. I hope he finds a great home and lives a nice long happy life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Ribs and Rib Eye

Mom and dad abandoned me tonight. They both had the day off from work. Me and mom had a wonderful morning snuggling on the couch drinking coffee while dad slept in. When he woke up, we had a bacon, egg and toast breakfast. Then, naps on the couch. Sounds perfect, right?

Well, after nap time mom and dad all of a sudden got up, took showers and LEFT ME!

That's right pups, they left me home alone.

Four days later (OK, maybe it was only four hours, but it seems like forever!)when they got home, I was sniffsniffsniffing mom to find out where they went. Mom told me that they went to a magical place called BJs and bought the world's biggest package of toilet paper and a million bottles of water. And she said that after shopping, they went to Texas Roadhouse. Mom wasn't super duper hungry, so she ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs/rib eye steak combo. Sounds like a lot of food, but what mom was planning on doing was eating a little bit of the ribs and bringing the rest home for me and her to share for lunch tomorrow!!! OMD! I sniffed the doggy bag and sure enough...RIBS AND RIB EYE!!!!

Mom said that dad also saved me some of his meal and there is a "Chicken critter" in the box too! I don't know what that is, but I hope I can chase him and then eat him!

OMD. Is it lunch time yet?

How 'bout now? Is it lunch now?

I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

Is it lunch now?

OK, is it lunch?

Mom saw a guy at work eating a deep red orange the other day. Mom asked what it was and he said it was a kind of blood orange and gave mom the name. He said that it tastes like raspberries. Mom's not a huge fan of oranges, but figured she'd try one. So, she went to the grocery store and bought two of what she *thought* were the fancy oranges.

Turns out, the ones mom bought were just plain oranges.

So, mom tried one the other day. As soon as she started peeling, I was interested. OMD. It smelled so good. I sat on the couch and stared at mom as she slobbered all over the orange slices with juice dripping down her arms and dripping out her lips. I had to have some. I admit it. I whined a pitiful little "gimmesome!" whine. Mom gave me a bite.

Holy smokes! I bit down on the orange slice and juice filled my mouth. I smiled and orange drool fell out of my mouth and onto the couch. I chewed that orange with lip smacking enthusiasm. OMD. It was soooo delicious! I wanted more, but there was none left. I was so sad.

This morning, me and mom were having breakfast. Mom finished her granola and yogurt and gave me the yogurt cup to clean. When I was about half way through cleaning, I smelled it....ORANGE! Mom had another one!

I left my yogurt on the floor and hippety hopped right up on to the couch. Me and mom shared the orange and each bit was DELICIOUS!!! So juicy and orangey and scrumptious!

I kept nosing mom's arm for more. Mom shared a bit, but then she said that we have to take it easy so I don't get a belly ache. I said "OK, woman, I can accept that. But do NOT eat the other half of that orange! Save it for tomorrow and we will share!"

She put the orange down and promised that we will eat the rest later. I'd better not see her snacking on it without me!

Well, GREAT news!!! She has officially been adopted by her foster mom and now has an official forever home where she is loved and gets a whole lotta food! No more skin and bones! WOOHOO!!!

Oh. My. Dog. Pups, it is snowing to beat the band here! Tons and tons of snow EVERYWHERE!!! We got a snow storm yesterday and another one today. Mom and Dad have had enough of driving in this stuff, so they are home with me today!! WOOHOO!!!

I knew it was snowing, so I woke mom up at 4:00 AM to take me outside for a quick pee. There was already two fresh inches of snow on the ground! Even in the spots that we just shoveled last night!

We came back in and went back to bed for a bit. Then we spent the rest of the morning cuddling on the couch and watching day time TV.

Me and mom just braved the elements for another pee break. Mom made me go out even though she didn't shovel. The snow was up to my whizzer!!!! Mom shoveled a little patch for me and I did my business. As soon as I was done, right back in and on the couch, BOL!

We are supposed to get 18 inches of snow today. I'm not sure where we are going to put it all....

Diary Pick!

YAY!!!! I am a diary pick of the day today!!! Thanks Dogster!

For my big day today, mom and dad are going to go get their taxes done and then go out to dinner, BOL! I told them that I am OK with this as long as they bring me home a surprise. Mom said she would, of course. I asked for a second tug-a-jug. I hope I get it!

Before they go out, we are all lounging around drinking coffee and/or cocoa and watching that silly Jack Black/Michael Cera movie "Year One".

Catching up with mom.

OMD! I thought I was being neglected! Mom had to work on Wednesday and Thursday this week. She works 12 hour days now, so when she is gone, she's gone for a LONG TIME! Wednesday, she worked late, so she wasn't home until 8:30 at night. She didn't feel well, so she went right to bed when she came home. Thursday morning, we got walloped by a snow storm, so mom and dad woke up early, shoveled and mom left for work very early. THEN! She worked late on Thursday, so she didn't come home until 8:15 last night!

When mom came home, I was so excited. I didn't know what to do. I did zoomies all around the house and did spinney circles at her feet. I thought she left us! Once we settled in, mom sat on the love seat to catch up with Dad. I was dancing at her feet. Mom said, "Chippy, come on up on the couch with me." and she patted the right side of the love seat with her hand.

The only problem was that I was on her left side. I danced and danced and didn't know what to do. I missed her so much and I just wanted to be on the couch with her! Sooo....I gathered up all my might and...

I launched myself full force up in the air and right on to mom's lap! BOL! When I landed, my front paws were on her chest, my back paws where on the edge of the couch and me and mom were nose to nose!

At first I was scared. I've never done this before. Mom has tried and tried to make me a lap dog, but I get too nervous when I am ON mom for some reason. So, when I jumped up there, I was panting and I was very nervous. I didn't know what to do.

To my surprise, mom grabbed me and gave me a big hug and said "Gooooddd Boy Chippy!!!!" And she smothered my face and head and neck and paws in kisses! I was soooo happy! I missed my mom! After a couple minutes of lovins, I flopped over onto the love seat and let mom pat my head for a few minutes. Boy, I missed her!

Does anybody know anything about gypsies?

Mom grabbed my cheeks this morning and put her face really close to mine. She looked in my eyes and said "Chipper. If you bark your little Chow head off at 4:15 AM one more time, I will sell your furry butt to a band of gypsies."

I need to know what gypsies are before I go to bed tonight so I can decide what to do in the morning.

I can tell you one thing....being snout to nose with mom before she brushes her hair (and teeth!) is a scary thing. That alone may make the barking not worth it.
