"A Rescue Dog"

Once I was a lonely dog just looking for a home. I had no place to go and no one to call my own. I wandered up and down the streets, in rain, in heat and snow. I ate whatever I could find. I was always on the go. My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain. And no one stopped to give a pat. No one knew my name. I never saw a loving glance; I was always on the run. Some people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun. Then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet, And loving arms reached down to me and took me off my feet. "No one will ever hurt you." was whispered in my ear. "You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear." "You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet." I was afraid I must admit I've lived so long in fear. I can't remember when I let a human come so near. As she tended to my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur, She told me 'bout the rescue group and what it meant to her. She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends. And in the center there is you protected by loving friends." "All around you are the ones that walk among the pounds, And those that share their home with you after you've been found." "There are many others who are searching near and far. To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star." She said, "There is a family, that's waiting patiently, And pretty soon they'll find you, just you wait and see." "Then they will join our circle - they'll help to make it grow, So there'll be room for more like you, who have no place to go." I waited very patiently, the days they came and went. Today's the day I thought, my family will be sent. Then just when I began to think it wasn't meant to be, There were people standing there just gazing down at me. I knew them in a heartbeat; I could tell they felt it too. They said, "We have been waiting for a special dog like you." Now every night I say a prayer to all the gods that be. "Thank you for the life I live and all you've given me. But most of all protect the dogs in the pounds and on the street. And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet." ~ Author Unknown ~

I thought it couldn't BUT IT DID !!! It got even- better......

Wow ! I am just about speechless.....just about I said. *He takes the folded acceptance speech from his pocket and begins to read*

I have just today been named Administrator of the 3 Amigo's group where I have sooo much fun laughing at Adam and Percy's antics, and where I get to help Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause this Christmas and NOW I am named Administrator of the Week by them. Let me just tell you....me, Osiris, and Amber had a ball riding straddle on the plane down to the tropics. When I got there the hair on my face was flat, flat, flat against my face - that plane was going realllly fast! But we got the girls to the tropics safe and sound.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank efurone of my furriends for the rosettes, stars, and special gifts during the holidays!! I am just sooo thankful to have you all as furriends.....this is my very, very best Christmas EVER!!!

My first Christmas away from home.....

I would like to thank all my furriends for making my first Christmas away from home so special. I have been having a wonderful time helping Sinter Klause answer letters and guiding his sleigh and handing out gifts and keeping me busy is helping make mommy smile.

She has been having a rough few days but guess what happened tonight to make her smile? I was made an Administrator in the 3 Amigo's group! I am soooooo happy and honored to have such a position. I promise to uphold my duties to the very best of my abilities. I am really smart and know I can do that job as well as my primary job of watching over Percy and Adam.

Thank you Amigo's for having the confidence in me! I will not let you down.

My First Christmas at the Bridge

Well, it started out as a sort of sad holiday season but my furriends at the Black Cat Irish Pub group has turned it into a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS SEASON !!!!

Tonight for example, we had the lighting of the Christmas tree at Black Cat Mountain. All of my furriends were there and Percy and Adam took us all up the mountain in the BC Train.

The ladies all looked lovely in their winter clothes and it was a very nice nite....the moon was full. When we got to the top of the mountain there was the Christmas tree. It was naked but me and Amber flew up and strung all the lights around the tree and guess what happened next? We got to put the star on the top of the tree!!!!! I have never felt so important in my whole life.

It just lit up the tree and everyone thought it was beautiful.

Thank you furriends for allowing me the honor. It was a very, very special night also because Santa arrived and I got to help him hand out gifts....then, you are not going to believe this......I got to guide the sled back to the North Pole !!!!

Whew....what a night. I am pooped but I had to share my happiness with you all.

Another Annifursary.....3 months now

Hi mommy,

I just wanted you to not be sad today.....I am having a ton of fun here at the Bridge. I get to go on trips with my girl Susie and our families AND Ihave a new bestest buddy, Percy, who I have a lot of fun with in the 3 Amigos Group! He even got a swimming pool so he could have fun this summer like I used to at home.

I miss you mommy but I did send you a feather on Friday. I left it inside your work where you would find it on your way out on break. I thought I saw you pick it up and then smile....then I saw you tape it up in your cubby. They say when you find a feather that someone from the Bridge sent it to you....I hope you know that and realize that it was from me and sort of from Rov too. He picked it out....I said where to lay it.

Don't be sad today mommy......you gave me a wonderful last 2 years of my life. Two years I wouldn't have gotten if it hadn't been for you and daddy. Thank you mommy. I love you and I KNOW you loved me too!!!!!!!!!

I AM DOG OF THE DAY OF DOGSTER !! I am sooo excited.....I am just beside myself....my mommy is going to be thrilled.....she will cry happy tears ....OMD!

*He finally takes the stage and clears his throat before speaking to the audience*

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dogster for the wonderful honor! I am sure when you guys started this website you thought it would be fun for a little while and maybe you would have a hundred or so doggies join......wow.....in your wildest dreams did you ever imagine you guys would have a zillion members and would have touched so many lives?

My mommy says Dogster and Catster have been lifesavers to her....especially for us Bridge babies!! Mommy now can see that we are all well now and having a great, great time at the Bridge and she has so many friends here that help each other through the bad times and share in the good times.

I want to thank my daddy for bringing me home (saving me), my mommy for loving me, my girlfurriend Suzette for being so beautiful, my bestest buddy Percy for inviting me to our fun group and letting me enjoy his adventures with him, to my sisfur Tiffy and her family Bear Doggie, Bushey and Friskey for checking on me often to make sure my transition was smooth, and my brofur Rover and his girlfurriends family for taking me and Susie along on their vacations....but most of all I want to thank DOGSTER for their wonderful website !!!

Two Long Months

Hi Mommy,

I just wanted to say hello to you today on my 2 month annifursary of being here at the Bridge. Now, don't cry.....I really am doing GREAT. I have my Susie Foo Foo Girl with me ALWAYS now and you know how happy that makes me.

This past month has been soooo busy. We, as you know, are traveling alllll over the south and right now we are on our way to see a big mouse and his wife in Orlando with Penny and Grover's pawrents.

I would love to write more mommy, but me and Susie are going for a walk down the strip before bedtime.

I love you and miss you mommy but I am ok.

A Beautiful Mother's Day Poem from Penny, Rover's Furriend

Dear Mom,

Us being here and you being there makes you sad at times, we know.

The hurt it has caused you, in more ways than one it shows.

We loved our Earthly home and the family you gave us all,

but we had important work to do here - a job that's not small.

We are God's angels now; with wings full and bright.

We meet all newcomers at the door when their turns come in sight.

We are not in a sad place; not a tear here does fall,

but that does not mean we don't miss you; we miss it all.

However, we know that one day you'll be here and we will meet you at the gate,

We have met so many new furriends that we cannot keep track,

We love you meowmy in every single way.

You took us in and raised us by choice,

Always caring for us and speaking for us when we had no voice.

You were our foundation, our strength, and our rock.

You remain to this day our heart, our love, and the cream of our crop.

You are the best mommy in the earthly domain,

and with the breeze in the air you feel today, we are gently speaking your name.

You are permanently embedded within our souls;

You are sorely missed as we are to you,

A note from Mommy.....

Hey little buddy,

Today is the one month annifursary of your going to the Bridge and leaving me. Actually it has been 4 weeks and 2 days! I miss you terribly Dante but I know you are having a lot of fun with your girlfurriend Suzette in ya'lls new dogpartment by the lake. I bet you love the lake....I will miss you in the pool with me this summer - we really enjoyed watching you chase the yellow duck around the pool then grabbing it and bringing it to us. I don't have anybody to play fetch with me now either....I miss you running after your rubber chicken then bringing it back and laying it on my houseshoe.

Dante....you were a joy to have the short time we had you with us. Mommy is just happy that you have Suzette now to watch after you and play with you. Is she a good thrower? I hope so!

I love and miss you a LOT little buddy....I will see you again someday soon.
