Favorite Toy: He told me that he's "too old for toys".
Favorite Food: Piggy Ears!
Favorite Walk: Anywhere!!!
Best Tricks: He does a little twirly dance on his hind legs when he is getting a treat.
Arrival Story: I adopted him through Basenji Rescue And Transport (BRAT) He was an older dog with medical problems that requires 2 pills a day for the rest of his life. Not the best traits for a dog who needed a forever home. I was just going to foster him until a forever home became available but I fell in love and have had him for over a year now.
Hi there everyone! Well, a lot has changed since the last time I wrote. First of all, Mama brought home a little brother. Not like the little brother my first mom brought home. No, this one has big floppy ears and a long non-curly tail. He makes just as much noise as my "first brother" though. She keeps telling me "This was your Dad's idea..." He's alright I guess. Sometimes I feel like playing with him but he gets a little rowdy and I have to tell him to stop. All in all we get along pretty well as long as he remembers who's boss! Then, out of nowhere, another brother. We just got one 2 weeks ago MOM... This one looked normal though. Pointy ears and a curly tail. She said she was helping him just like she helped me. I don't care. I am suposed to be the only pointy ear, curly tail dog in my house!!! Out with him!!! Then she told me to get over it. He did distract the floppy eared thing so I could relax on the couch. They like to play a lot more than I do because they are SO immature. So, I tried to tolerate him from a distance. We got in a few scuffels as I was trying to teach him that this is my house. Mama was always so mad and sad when we did that and we even accidentally hurt her one time. Well, if that wasn't enough another change in my perfect world. We moved again! I have a really BIG backyard now and a patio where I can lay in the sun! It is awsome! Only thing is, the floors in the house aren't all fuzzy like the other ones I'm used to. It took me awhile to figure out how to keep my feet under my body when I play hide and seek with Mama but I'm getting pretty good now. Now we are all up to speed. The jury is still out on the one she calls "Brady" but I will let you know what I decide. Baroo at ya later!
Well it's about time. Mama keeps saying she is going to write about me but she hasn't done it yet so I got up in her lap and told her she better start. I'm also watching for type-o's, grammatical errors and spelling errors. I'm a very smart Basenji you see.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I think I was born way up North where it is very cold. I can't really remember because I was so young, but I remember coming to Texas where the weather is nice and warm. I love the hot Texas sun! I lived with this lady and we were very happy. Then, some man started coming around A LOT, and they had this thing called a wedding, I think. He was very nice too. Then, a few years later, my Mom started getting really fat. I tried to tell her that she needed to exercise, but she said it wouldn't help. Well, after a few months, Mom said I had a little brother!!! I was very excited!!! I loved my little brother. Then, for some reason, he decided he didn't like me and he would chase me, and jump on me, and pull on my ears and my tail. I didn't like that too much so I tried to tell him to stop. If I could have told him to stop in "human" I would have, but my vocal chords won't allow me to utter the words " Please stop jumping on me. It hurts really bad." So I did what any other dog would do, I growled. Well, needless to say, Mom didn't like that too much so she put me in a room and closed the door so me and Brother couldn't get to each other. I was very lonely up there but Mom would come and visit me and love on me from time to time. I missed being with my family and Mom knew that. She then decided that I would probably be happier with someone who could spend more time with me. That is when she contacted BRAT. Basenji Rescue And Transport. She loved me very much and cried when she talked to my new Mama. Mom was too upset to take me to my new Mama, so Dad took me to this lady who lived in a little apartment with no yard. What's up with that? I'm used to a big house with a big backyard. Are you really going to leave me with this lady? Well, turns out that I got to take a walk several times a day! I loved that!!! I was sad to see Dad leaving in tears. I wish I could have told him how much I loved him, Mommy and brother. My new Mama is great! She even moved into a bigger house with a backyard for me!!!
Well, now you know a little about me.
