Yipes! I got TAGGED by Pawnee de la Maison du Soleil (#447860), so I get to do some tagging of my own now! This is gonna be fun... here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

----------

So here are 7 facts about me:

1 - I get zoomies!

2 - I have long fingers.

3 - I have an ink spot on my tongue.

4 - I enjoy holding hands with people.

5 - I hate thunderstorms! And fireworks!

6 - I carry my (currently) favorite bone or hoof around all the time.

7 - I pick on my brother Webster when he's playing with his bungee-ball.

----------

Now it's my turn! Get busy, pups!

Bowser-wowser, here we go again... this time Cletis (#467341) got me! Gotta grab a drink and get out there and do some more taggin'!

----------

Well then, here are 7 more facts about me:

1 - I like to hide things but I'm not very good at it.

2 - I have certain phobias which nobody else understands.

3 - I like to haul my cat brother Dusty around by the head.

4 - I love to de-stuff and shred my toys, but I don't hurt my people's stuff.

5 - I'll eat almost anything (including some non-food items).

6 - I need to lose a few pounds (see above).

7 - Nobody, but nobody, will hurt my people when I'm around!

----------

Now I'm gonna go chase down these seven pooches and tag 'em!

Hey gang, I just got this urgent pee-mail off my walnut tree, it's from the referees:

We have officially excused Sabre from the games. This exceedingly handsome fellow has suffered a relapse of his EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) and is not up for such activities at this time. We hope that this is curtailed (pun fully intended!) in very short order.

Please join us in sending hopes, prayers and best wished to Sabre!

Please help Shadow, he really needs it!

Boy-oh-boy, I am dog-tired! I've been helping my brother Webster work on the BOYS ONLY Bunker project... what a job that is turning out to be! Every time we get one room roughed-in, we find out we need to add another one. I'll tell you what though, it's gonna be worth the effort when it's done.
So far, we have rooms shaping up for Webster and me, Wilson, Cletis, Tater, Stinky Pete, Otis Bubba and Clyde. Plus the communal areas, of course.
Webster is putting all the pictures and most of the updates on his page, so keep an eye out there to see how things are going.
Ya know, this might be good for more than just a hidey-hole!

The BOYS ONLY Bunker is now occupied!

Congo, the GSD, LOST his court case today! This is a death sentence for this beautiful dog!

Please call 609-292-6000 TODAY to tell the governor that Congo should NOT be put down! They are taking a tally of people who are AGAINST putting this dog down. If enough people call in, it will save his life!

For those not familiar with Congo's case:
1. two illegal immigrants were gardening at the family's house
2. they arrived an hour early
3. they were told by the husband to stay in their truck until he could
get out of the shower and get some clothes on
4. the husband speaks Spanish and spoke to them in Spanish so there is
no question they understand what they were told to do
5. they directly disobeyed the husband and walked into the backyard with
the wife, who had just pulled into the driveway)
6. the two adult gsd's and their puppies came running
7. the gardeners panicked
8. ONE GARDENER GRABBED THE WIFE AND WRESTLED HER TO THE GROUND, USING
HER AS A PROTECTIVE SHIELD
9. Congo thought his owner was being attacked and went after the gardener
10. The gardener used his rake to beat at the puppies and inflicted some
injuries on them.
11. the gardener changed his story three times (interesting note on
official bias: when the owner said the gardener changed his story five
times, the dog warden said "No, he only changed his story 3 times.")

My thankful thoughts on Thanksgiving Day

Today is a special day, to celebrate all the things that we are thankful for. I am going to help my brother Webster write in his diary about all of the things that we are blessed with, but here in my own diary I am going to write about something really special.

My Pop sent an e-mail to his friend Deanna. She is Jezzie's and Bruti's Mom, and she has a great website called For the Love of the Dog. Here is what he wrote:

***********

A young lady named Rachel Ridout used to work where I work, and her boyfriend Brian still does work there. I did not know her well but talked to her a few times. Brian I do know pretty well, as he operates the equipment I service (I'm not an employee there but provide contract service and have a permanent office there so I may as well be).

Several weeks ago, she and Brian were at a friend's house. Coming up the basement stairs, she slipped or stumbled at the top of the stairs and fell backward, pulling Brian with her down the stairs. She landed head-first on a concrete floor. She has been in a coma since, and will remain so (induced) for quite some time to help her brain heal. Her condition has been up and down all that time, showing promise one day and then causing frustration and disappointment the next day. But it is really a miracle that she survived at all... the day after the accident, her family was making funeral preparations.

Her mother has been keeping a journal at CaringBridge.org (maybe you're already familiar with the site?) and many of her friends, relatives and others have been posting in her guestbook.

You may already know this, but a coma is not always like we see in the movies. In her case, it certainly is not that way. She sleeps, she awakens, she looks around and can move occasionally. She was recently moved to Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, where she will remain for long-term care and therapy.

Today her mother posted a new journal entry that should make any dog-lover smile and nod knowingly. Here it is:

-----------
Rachel was running a small temp yesterday so the nurses decided to let her sleep in the afternoon instead of putting her in the chair. Last night she was still a little tired but when friends came she was alert. She enjoyed seeing them and it seemed like she new exactly who they were. It is so important for friends to talk to her for her recovery.
Someone at my work contacted me that a program she is involved with would be bringing therapy dogs to Bethesda on Tuesday. She asked if Rachel would like a visit from the dogs. Rachel loves animals and they have always loved her. In fact, about a month before the accident she showed me a type of dog on the internet that she wanted but I told her she had to wait until she was living in a place that she could keep the dog. Several weeks ago we told Rachel that when she wakes up, we are getting her a dog so her job was to think of a name.
The large therapy dogs came into her room and she immediately focused her attention to them. Randy said he had never seen her eyes so wide open. The nurse reached for Rachel's hand to open her fingers to pet the dog. Rachel's left arm is very rigid and her hand is usually clenched making it is hard to open her fingers. The nurse put her clenched fist on the top of the dog's head so her knuckles could pet the dog. When her knuckles touched the dog's head, her hand open up completely on her own!! This is truly amazing! Rachel even moved her head forward twice to look at the dogs. It looks like we may be getting Rachel that dog sooner than we think! Thank you Liza for arranging the dog visit. It was a moment of hope for us.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.
Randy, Cher, Krystal, Ryan, and Rachel
-----------

***********

Deanna posted that story on her website, and we hope that everyone who reads it will go visit Rachel's page and send their thoughts and prayers for her. We are very grateful for her sharing not only this story but SO MANY others, good news and bad, about dogs and people and their relationships with each other.

But my special thanks today goes to all of the very, very special dogs and their people who serve us in so many different ways.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the therapy dogs, service dogs, war dogs, K-9 police officers, drug-sniffers, bomb-sniffers, search & rescue dogs, and any others I might have overlooked... you know who I mean. Those dogs who aren't just everyday loving pets like me but who give up big parts of their lives, and sometimes even their whole lives, to help others. We all owe so much to all of them!

May all of you have a splendid Thanksgiving holiday with your families and friends, to celebrate all of the gifts we receive every day!

-Ringo

P.S. if anyone knows who those therapy dogs were who visited Rachel at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN on Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 were, please send me a P-mail to tell me who they were so I can thank them personally!

Can dreams come true even if you didn't dream them?

Unless somebody pinches me and wakes me up, that's what happened to me today!

I never ever in a bazillion years dreamed that I would see my own face looking back at me from the Dogster home page... unless maybe they started putting WANTED posters on there or sumthin like that! But today, it happened, and I'm just floating on Cloud Nine. Somehow I ended up getting the same title as the very best dogs on Dogster! How the heck did that happen anyway? Now I realize that HQ has had a few fleas slip into the servers now and then, so maybe that's what happened. But just between you, me and the fire hydrant, I sure hope they don't take it back when they do their debugging.

I've never seen so much P-mail or so many PPRs in my life, or had so much cool stuff pasted on my page.... it is pawsome! I am gonna thank each and every one of you personally, even if it takes me a year to do it. But in the meantime, I will say it here: THANK YOU!!!!!!! And thanks to whoever they are at Dogster HQ who made it happen to me, even if they are just fleas!

I have found the best friends in the world here on Dogster, and I love you all.
