Just A Dog!

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."

They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."

Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.

"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.

Because of "just a dog", I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a dog",
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man or woman."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog"
just smile...
because they "just don't understand."

Maggie is a 17lb Corgi/Doxin mix she is 2 years old and is spayed and micro chipped! She has a very bad case of fear based aggression! She will need a very patient person, and gentle person! It takes her quite a while to warm up to people! She needs to be an indoor dog, and she is house trained! She is a great travel dog, she love the car and the snow! We are rehoming her because she is not happy with other dogs! She wants to be the only pet! She has become very close to our male Papillon! She loves him to death but he knows how to deal with her! Our other female dog and her can just not seem to get along! I know both girls are unhappy and I think it’s unfair to both of them! A submissive small male dog would probably be OK! But like even with people, she needs time to adjust! She has had bad experiences with large dogs and so she is petrified of them, and will bite to protect herself! She has never been around cats! She is very cute and playful! And just wants a person she can be will 24 hrs a day! It breaks my heart to let her go but I know it’s right! She’s unhappy and so… so are we! I would like her to be adopted close to us so we can still see her occasionally! And if anything were to ever happen we WANT her back!

Maggie found a new great home!

Maggie was actually adopted by a spactacular family! It truly broke my heart and still is every day to not have her with us! But it was best for everyone! We (my family and myself) were constantly stressed out! We love her so much and tried trainers who all turned us away after the first day! They said the best thing would be to euthanize her. NO WAY IN HELL would I ever let that happen! If we couldn't fix her problems and no one would adopt her we would keep her forever and forever try to fix her problems! She was not a happy girl! She loved her family so dearly it was incomprehensible to "share" her family. Even with her best friends Bandit and Bridgette! She loved them if it was just them. She was the sweetest girl ever when they were not around. But if they came near us when she was getting attention, she would lose it. And we spent so much time screaming, training, crying and trying everything. I even put off the idea of having a second child because of Maggie! And that she was so bonded to my daughter Taylor she would give her life to protect her. And a new baby would not be safe around her. I thought she was truly hopeless! In the end all she wants is her family all to herself. We found a wonderful family! It's just the two adults. Maggie ideal life. The only pet and with her people 24 hours a day. She goes to work with them every day. I'm just so happy that because we were not the right family for her, we found one that was. I love her and miss her so much and I will always hold a special place in my heart for her. But I know she can now finally be truly happy! And her new family is thrilled with her.

I encourage all of you out there with problem dogs! Work through them! Do not give up. If you've come to the realization your not the right fit for them. Find them one that is. There are lots of patient loving people out there that want YOUR dog! DON'T GIVE UP! Your baby is counting on you!!
