Bailey Jake had a seizure in April, the first he has ever had in his life. It was in the middle of the night and he was on my bed and I woke up to his shaking , kicking, foaming at the mouth and he wet all over the bed, It lasted about 2 minutes. I am familar with the seizures because I had a German Shephard who had them for 6 out of 7 years of his life. I never wanted to go through that again. I held Bailey and talked to him softly until it was over. I called the vet and they suggested to wait and bring him in to the vet in the morning unless he had more that night. He didn't and so we went in the next day and they did blood work and it all came back okay. They didn't want to put him on meds unless he started having lots of them.
He had another one a month later in May. Then a month later in June he had two a couple hours apart and they were bad so I rushed him into the vets office and they put him on a IV and gave him a large dose of phenabarbitol and sedated him and kept him all night. The next day he came home and was very unsteady on his feet. I have phenabarbitol to give him every 12 hours. The dose at first was too much because he was still real unsteady on his feet for days and as soon as we lowered it a little he was fine. He has adjusted to it well except he drinks alot and of course has to go pee alot and we have had a few accidents with that.
He hasn't had another seizure and it has been 6 weeks. Fingers crossed.
