Arrival Story:
We were looking for a playmate for our German shepherd, Bailey. We had wanted another German shepherd and looked several places but could never find one. I was looking on and saw a Siberian Husky rescue. I called them and they said we could come over and see what they had. She wanted us to bring our dog to make sure we found one that Bailey got along with. The first 2 dogs they brought out were so hyper and chased Bailey around and around the backyard. She didn't like that. The 3rd one they brought out was this big beautiful boy, Montana. Apparently he was found wandering the streets of Detroit and was going to be put down but someone called the rescue and asked them if they wanted him. Lucky for us they said yes. He was calm and Bailey liked him almost as much as I did. We filled out the application and waited to hear back the next day after she checked our references. Montana was ours. Three days later she brought him to our house to check things out. She seemed to be satisfied and left him with us. It takes a lot of patience to own a Siberian Husky, but it is worth every moment. On September 5, 2011, my sweet boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He got very sick very fast. He had been on Deramaxx for his arthritis and it caused a perforated ulcer. Around 1:50am on the 5th I went to take him outside to go potty. He took a couple steps and collapsed on the grass. I tried so hard to get him up but he wouldn't move. I had to call a friend to try to help me get him to the E Vet. We loaded him in her car and drove to the Vet. They told me he had a 106 temp and was in septic shock. They found blood, pus and bacteria in his belly. They said they could perform surgery but couldn't guarantee that he would survive. He was either 9 1/2 or 10 1/2 yrs old. I didn't want him to be put through major surgery and not know if he would survive. I had to make the horrible decision to let him go to Rainbow Bridge. I was there rubbing his ears and soothing his face telling him he was such a good boy and that I would always love him. When the vet told me he was "gone" I just sobbed and sobbed. I am so heartbroken! I will never forget my sweet boy!

Atticus - I am worried

Bailey's and Montana's HuMom here:

I just looked at the Chip In amount that was sent for Atticus's surgery. It said they only raised $1785 of the $6500 that was needed for his surgery. That is only 27% of $6500. They needed it by Nov. 4th and that is tomorrow. I am so worried this sweet pup won't be able to have the surgery to correct his severe spinal problem. He deserves to be a happy and healthy pup. I donated and I wish I could have given more. I wish more people felt the way I do. I know there are a lot of people out there that do not feel the same way as most dogster families do. A lot of people wouldn't even spend that amount of money on their own pets let alone somebody else's pet. Please take a look at Atticus's Dogster page. Check out the Southern German Shepherd Rescue's webpage. It has two videos of Atticus and they break my heart. Please help if you can. Please give this boy his miracle!

This is from Atticus's diary that was posted on Oct. 17, 2008

The name that has been given to me is Atticus. I am really the sweetest pup you will ever find. I have just had a rough start in my life. Please read my bio for my story.
So far I have found how wonderful life can be. I just love to play, but right now I have a really hard time just going out to potty. My back is hurt really bad. If I do not get treatment soon, I could become completely paralyzed.
I am so thankful for the kind humans that are trying their very best to help me. They have taken me to see the person they call the vet. I heard them say I need something called surgery. This will give me the chance at a normal pup life. I want to be normal like the other pups at my foster home. Right now, I have to stay inside all the time and just watch them out the window. This makes me cry!
I also heard my foster humans say this surgery is going to cost $6500.00.
I am not sure what this really means. I heard them say it is a lot of money and they must raise the money by Oct. 28. They said this is when I am scheduled to have this surgery thing done. I want it so bad. I want to be able to run and play like all my pals. Without it, this will never happen and I will start to get a lot of pain, then I will not be able to even go out for a potty break.
I am a pup with a lot of love to give and a very big heart! My foster humans tell me times are really bad for people right now. That it will be hard to get this thing they call money. If any of you out there has even a dollar to spare, will you please help them get this money?
Dogster has been so kind as to allow us to ask for your help. Without all you pups, I just do not know what I would or will do.

If you can find anything you can give to help me here is the way to do it.
You can send the money right to the place that will be doing my surgery:

NCSU-Vet Teaching School at NC State University
4700 Hillsborough Street
Ralieigh, NC 27606
Case #142791

Please be sure and give them this case # and tell them it is for me.
Or you can donate through the wonderful rescue that is trying hard to get me this money:

Click on Special Needs at the top of the page. Then click on me. You will then see where to put your kind donations.
I will be ever so grateful for anything any of you pups can do.

No amount is to small!
Love to all!!
