Mom: Zak, move over...let me sit down!
Zal: Whaaat......I couldn’t hear you....
Mom: I said move over!
Zak: I still can't hear you......whaaaaat was that again??
Mom: (getting annoyed) MOVE!
Zak: What???
Mom: Why do I even try, neither of you come when I call, you all never really talk to me with the exception of complaining and now I can't even sit on the couch......Damn sighthounds!
Zak: (looking at Mom as if he was in an aquarium) I.......CAN'T..... HEAR........ YOU!
Mom: Sure....OK, like I'm going to fall for the selective hearing loss trick again for the eleventeenth time.
Zak: Look women, I'm underwater, I'm can't swim and I'm going to drown!
Zak lays his head upon the couch, lifting his ear exposing what looks to be a miniature farm, complete with vegetation, small animals and a possible horse drawn carriage.
.......Mom make funny noise.
Mom: Have you ever heard of the story "Peter and the Wolf"?
Zak: Have YOU ever heard of medical intervention!!!
Poor baby got a NASTY ear infection out of nowhere! Got drugs and guess what, he's STILL got the couch. AMAZING how LOOOONG he can make himself.

Zak: We seem to have some extra zealies...what to do, what to do!!
Mom: Can't you be selfless and give them away??
Zak: OK...What's in it for me??
Mom: That's not that what Selfless means! What if you had pup's tell you why they deserve a star.... you know, like a game!!
Zak: Yeah, that's it!! I could grade them on creativity, originality, honesty...punctuation...BOL!
Mom: Well that settles it!!
Zak will be awarding his extra zealies in the form of a star to the five deserving pups. It's simple.... paw mail us your reasons, story poem...whatever! If it makes him laugh, cry, thump his head or (DOG forbid) pee himself with joy- you get a star.
By the way...he will NOT be grading you on punctuation. You also agree to have your entry posted in his diary!
Let the games begin!!

Our good friend Elvis is very sick right now, it all happened very suddenly. His Mama's heart is breaking right now.
Go visit his page and share some words of encouragement for his family.

Mom here...
Our boy is home.
He came home on Sunday (too early in this Moms opinion), developed an infection and then spent another two days behind bars at the Vets. We're not eating much at the moment but we're drinking and holding it down, which is a good sign.
He loves his new “Elizabethan” collar...yes, I'm being sarcastic.
Not to complain to loudly to the Veterinarians out there...we suppose you mean that by lightening our pockets (never mind we have a long history with your practice!) will lift the weight from our hearts???
...We can't thank our friends enough. For all of you who sent gifts, rosettes and messages...it's a terrific reminder as to why we love this community!
We survive and are together.
The Pawrents, the Kid and Tavar of course!

Thursday...
Zak stopped eating, couldn't hold down even water, tried Pepto... it's worked before.
Friday Morning...
Zak started dry heaving, despite the fact he hadn't eaten anything for the last day and a half.
Took him to the vet.
Vet Tech: "Ma'am, if you could come this way, there's something we wanted to show you'....
Vet: There's an object right here, no doubt about it!
Dad: Honey, does that look like....
Mom: 'Clause.... it can't be!
Dad: Santa Clause...but how??
.... A clear shadow of Santa Clause, bearer of gifts and good spirits Ho, Ho, Ho'ed from the stark white wall and shadow of internal organs.
Vet: We think he ingested it...
Mom and Dad: 'Ya think?!?!?
Vet: We recommend immediate removal.
Mom and Dad: 'Ya think?!?!?
Poor Zakkers did not react well to his anesthesia...we hope to have him home safe and sound either tomorrow or Monday at the latest. He's well hydrated and has a long excision down his belly. Santa (the missing ornament we were wondering about, curious as to his mysterious disappearance) seems to be stable as well.... Christmas lives on.
It's been a long couple of day’s folks. We just want our boy home.

With Christmas being just around the corner, we have an early offering and you must promise to listen to it in it's entirety. Let's just say the climax is very ummmmm.........."climactic".
As the Story goes, this was sent to a Nashville recording agency. The rest is history.
With that said, we give you.......Oh, Holy Night as you've never heard it before!
BOL!!

Yup, it's true! On November 28th I'll be 4 years old.
Mom: Zak...have you decided what you want for your birthday?
Zak: Mom, all I really want for my birthday is for you to have a job!
Mom: Awww, you're so sweet!
Zak: Why thank you Mommy. You see, if you had a job we could return any rosettes given in honor of my birthday without delay. (Poor Finlay, I understand your dilemma!).
Mom: Ohhhh, I understand.
Zak: Sigh.........
Mom: (pausing a little) Happy Birthday Zak!! Guess what.....
Zak: What....WHAT?!?!?
Mom: I got a job!
Zak: REALLY!! Is it any good? Can we fire that nasty COBRA?
Mom: Unfortunately the COBRA is a necessary evil at least for another 90 days. Do you want to know the best part...I'll be closer to you guys...it's only two blocks away!
Zak: Mom...can we get some rosettes now, you know...for my birthday?
Mom: Sure buddy...let's go shopping!
Mom:….and Zak; Happy Birthday...you're a joy to have in my life!

A LATE WALK
by: Robert Frost (1874-1963)
When I go up through the mowing field,
The headless aftermath,
Smooth-laid like thatch with the heavy dew,
Half closes the garden path.
And when I come to the garden ground,
The whir of sober birds
Up from the tangle of withered weeds
Is sadder than any words.
A tree beside the wall stands bare,
But a leaf that lingered brown,
Disturbed, I doubt not, by my thought,
Comes softly rattling down.
I end not far from my going forth
By picking the faded blue
Of the last remaining aster flower
To carry again to you.
Good bye Pongo, you will be missed.
