My birthday

Wow, I had such a great birthday! The only thing I don't like about it is that I'm now a year older. Plenty of folks have commented that I look great for my age. It appears that I have very little gray on my muzzle. Buckeye is not so lucky, because his muzzle is all gray, and we're both about the same age. I wonder why that is?

My birthday started off with a fun road trip to Indiana. Even though it was raining, it didn't stop me from sticking my head out the window to feel the cool raindrops on my face. I went to Indiana to visit one my favorite humans who is now in a nursing home. His eyes lit up when he saw me. I must admit I was a little antsy, because, like my mama, I really don't like to stay in one place for a long time. I always have to be moving and sniffing somewhere. But he gave me cookies! I was in pup heaven!

We returned home. I think my mama wanted to take me to Petsmart, but it was still raining. So they dropped off Buckeye and I at home and she went about her way. She came back with fun toys and yummy bones to chew on!

It was a fabulous birthday indeed! :)

Day 2 of the Puppy Monster

It's now day 2, and I just realized I have a long way to go. This guy will NOT leave me alone. He's jumpy, he's tiny, and I secretly think he's enjoying torturing me. I think he has developed some evil plan to make my life miserable.

My mama just ADORES him. She spends all her free time with him. I see her take him out into the yard A LOT. I hear things like "go potty." Then he does and he goes right after me! I think my mama thinks it's cute and laughs.

I DON'T FIND IT SO FUNNY!! Grrr....

A pool in the backyard???!

Oh gee whiz...I think it's true.

Ok. I am thoroughly convinced that my human has indeed lost it. I think she plans on teaching me how to swim. I am not exactly thrilled with the idea. I don't think she realizes that I'm not a puppy anymore and I'm certainly not up to learning new things. Pfft.

I recall a long time ago, my human brought me over to the neighbor's house for a BBQ. He has a pool, so my mama put me in there to see what I would do. I swam alright, and did ok, but I wasn't in there for very long....maybe for about 20 seconds. The water was way too cool for my taste.

I spotted that ladder right away and my mama guided me towards the ladder. I got out right away. I have no desire to do that again. I hope she doesn't plan on putting me in there once the pool is here! Cookies, yes. Swimming, no way!

Ruh roh...

All of a sudden there is tiny little dog in the house that will NOT leave me alone. I think he's a baby. I don't think he's here permanently here though. I heard my mama say something about "petsitting" and something about a "week."

For me, this is going to be a very LONG week. It's even starting to upset my tummy. Buckeye has attained somewhat of a fatherly figure to him...it's rather weird. I'm not so sure how I can handle this. He is such a ball of energy (when he's not sleeping) that overwhelms me. Wow.

I just want my old house back!

Incase ya'll haven't noticed, I am fixated on this song because it's SO me. I really *am* a rockstar....or is it dogstar? k9-star? canine-star?? Hm. I'll have to sleep on this. Pawty Hardy!

YES ASPCA!!

I am a dog, and for a dog to loathe anyone or anything is rare, but Michael Vick is one big exception. I am elated that the ASPCA has taken action. Read the letter below from the ASPCA:

"Dear ASPCA Members and Supporters:

The ASPCA is currently assisting in the federal investigation against Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three other individuals, who were indicted on July 17 by a federal grand jury in a Virginia dog fighting venture.

At this time, we cannot offer any additional details in order to protect the integrity of this investigation and the ongoing criminal process.

We have also posted new educational materials on animal cruelty at www.aspca.org/cruelty, so I hope you will visit that often as we keep updating the site. You will find a wealth of information here on animal cruelty, as well as a look at the reprehensible world of dog fighting.
