Arrival Story: Mom told Dad she wanted a small dog she could hold in her lap (German Shepherds THINK they are lapdogs but really they are not) and carry around with her. So she found me on Petfinder. Dad says he took one look at me and said "GO! Get this dog IMMEDIATELY for there is none cuter in all the land!!!" Mom disputes this but I find Dad's version very believable.
Anyway, mom does "rescue" (not sure what this is but it seems to involve running a sort of boarding house for stray dogs). So she felt guilty adopting a "highly adoptable" dog herself. Mom has issues, but that's another story. I came from the shelter originally as a stray but when mom found me I was living with another rescue group and they were having a lot of trouble adopting me out. The other rescue group folks said the problem was that I liked my foster parents fine but whenever someone else would come to see about adopting me I would attack them.
Look, I don't call just leaping up and snarling and maybe biting someone just a little bit "attacking" do you? I call it "being discriminating in the company one keeps." And some of those people had children for goodness sakes. Children? Pitoo, I spit on the ground.
Mom and The Boy drove three hours through the rain to come meet me. I let them take me for a walk and then I attacked them just a little bit. Just to let them know I could. So naturally they were so smitten with me that they adopted me then and there. I had to drag a leash around for the first few days because I didn't want anyone to pick me up but very quickly I learned that mom and dad are the best! I love them to pieces. I still hate The Boy but mostly I just attack him out of habit.

Bio: I live with Grace and Renny. They are my best dog friends. We like to play together. When I play with Grace sometimes she bends down and other times I climb up on something. I try to accommodate the fact that she's too tall. Renny is a better size and she's allowed on the furniture with me. Renny is cool but sometimes she jumps on me and I don't like that much. There's this other dog that mom and dad claim lives here but I don't think so. His name is Leo. He sucks. I bark at him a lot so he knows how much he sucks. Leo came to live with us just before Ivo died. Now Ivo was cool. He liked to lie around a lot and he would let me lie near him which was nice in the winter. And sometimes Ivo would try to eat the cats which was always good for a laugh.
Leo is no replacement. He never lies down and he'll poke you with his nose as soon as look at you. It's best to bark and snarl at someone like that and hope they go away. Grace and I are working on that together.

I borrowed the title from a CD someone gave Dad once as a joke. Anyway, that's what we've got going on this month. Mom took Grace and Leo and Percy the foster Yorkie with her and went to NC to do some stuff. So me and dad and The Boy have been on our own for a while. I wish someone would run the vacuum so I could chase it but so far, no luck. On the plus side, life without Leo is lovely. Maybe he'll be eaten by a shark - here's hoping! I want mom and Grace to come back someday though. They're both pretty ornery; I doubt a shark could take them. Meanwhile it's like a boy and small dog paradise here. Take out Pizza, Wii, and maxing and relaxing. Or that's what I'm doing anyway. I lent Percy my Doggles. I hope he brings them back.

That's me! I like to hike and I almost never let Daddy carry me, though occasionally he insists and I don't want to hurt his feelings so I go along with it, even though I certainly don't NEED to be carried. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. This weekend we went to the Red River Gorge. There were lots of cliffs and things but I kept everyone away from the edges. Well, except Leo; I told him to get as close as he wanted.
There were lots of good smells and leaves to rustle in. Mom says we only hiked 6 or 7 miles but I think it was closer to 25. Each of my legs is only about 3 inches long, so maybe it seemed like more. But I hung in there really well especially considering how much energy I burned running all over everything while Mom and Dad were getting ready to go. Mom says I'm tough. You know it! The Sheptards insisted on leading most of the time. Renny and I walked behind them and whispered about how annoying they are. Periodically mom would turn around and yell at Dad for "letting" us pull. What-ev-er, lady. Renny and I are training as sled dogs and dad seemed like maybe he could use our help on some of those hills. MUSH!

This weekend Mom and Dad and The Boy decided to take a "fun family outing" to see where they're building a house for a show that The Boy likes to watch. I kind of like it myself; there's a lot of banging and crashing, which I enjoy, and I am a lot like the host - hey! I need a bullhorn!!! That is something to ask Mom about later...
So anyway, we went off to do that. It was pretty fun. Pixie got carsick along the way and that was gross. The Mom kept telling me not to squash Pixie because she didn't feel good. Whatever mom; it's my lap yo.
Dad was pretty successful in keeping people from petting me. I nearly got to take out some of my frustration on this one kid but mom noticed just in time - denied. We didn't see Ty Pennington but one of the designers came out and patted Pixie. She wanted to pat me but Dad smoothed that over by turning around suddenly. Denied again.
Then we went for a walk and I showed Pixie how to leap through the leaves like a dolphin. She did pretty well for a newbie. On the ride home we stopped at a fast food restaurant and mom shared some of her hushpuppies with Pixie and me. I really think from the name we should have gotten all of them but mom's kind of greedy about stuff like that.
