Digging, playing with the kids, chasing squirrels (though he never catches them), digging, riding in the car. Oh, and did I mention digging?
A piece of rope to play tug-of-war with the kids.
Around the farm. There are so many places to investigate.
He makes us laugh. He's a real clown. He's also the escape artist of our three terriers, gotta watch him all the time.
After losing our old schnauzer, Ty, I didn't think I wanted another dog to replace him. After a few months the kids started to ask about another puppy, especially our son. He wanted a dog he could teach tricks. I thought a wire fox terrier would be the right choice but had a very hard time finding a breeder. We finally drove two hours to meet a lady who had only one puppy left, and he was the perfect dog for us.
If Tell were a person, he would be the class clown. He's always doing funny things to make us laugh, and seems to have a big grin on his face most of the time. He really enjoys life to the fullest, no matter what he's doing. He digs holes, barks at toadstools that spring up overnight in the yard, and leaps like a gazelle when he's running.
My son wrote the following poem that was published in the hardcover book Celebrations of Young Poets:
I got a present from my mother.
He was better than a brother.
He is a puppy I call William Tell.
He was the last one the breeder would sell.
He has little brown and black polka-dots,
He chases squirrels and barks at rocks.
He is my dog. I love him lots,
My silly little dog with spots.
I regret nothing!
