They ran and ran and the tourists smiled
they ran on, for many a mile
They did not whine, but ran with joy
and you could see the smiles on girls and boys
A good days work, the dogs gave it all,
to what reward , not a toy or ball
Just the joy of being a working breed
they did not know, it was really for mans greed .
Would they have given their hearts and worked so hard
if they knew of the grave behind the yard.
And would they still, at sight of man, give a joyous bay
if they knew, in a pit they would end their day.

RIP to all the lost souls...

FLEA TREATMENT NIGHT! LET ME GO OUTSIDE AND GET IT OFF!

Yesterday, Mommy gave us our monthly flea treatment. Well..I HATE flea treatment. It is stinky and horrible. Jake is a good boy for flea treatment day. He Actually seems to enjoy the attention. The cat comes in second place for flea treatment behaviour as he hisses and squirms. I am the WORST flea treatment patient!!! So Mommy always does me last. I hate the stuff on my skin. It STINKS! The first time they ever did it to me, I took off running up and down the stairs in panic after wards and they all laughed at me. These days, I just roll and roll all over the floor and try to get the smell off. Sometimes I roll in my cage. Yesterday I did that. I rolled in my cage...oinking, grunting and growling and mumbling with glee. BUT Mommy decided (because Jake was prancing at the back door all happy) to let us out. It was raining. It was muddy. I was stinky with this stuff on me. We have a nice shrub in the yard. It had mud under it. (can you see where I am going with this?)
I was still in my cage when Mom opened the door to go out and i bolted for the outside, flung myself in the the shrub, and rolled and oinked and barked and snorted in the mud WITH GLEE!
Jake was looking at me like i was nuts and then just went pee. Mommy was yelling at me and calling me TEDDY GET OUT OF THE MUD! GET OUT OF THAT SHRUB RIGHT NOW! MR TEDDY, YOU WILL NOT GET A COOKIE!!!!!!!!! - "oink oink oink" = me.
Jake had done his business and came in the house and I was still rolling in the mud and making weird happy noises. in the pouring rain.
Finally Mom gave up yelling and coaxing and just burst out laughing at me. It was THEN, that I came in the house. MUDDY AND BROWN FROM PAW TO SNOUT!

But boy oh boy did I smell better!!

Merry Christmas to Teddy......by Mommy.

To my dear sweet Teddy.

It has been 3 years now since we brought you into our home. And I just want you to know how much we all love you.
Every day I smile when I see your face. Each morning, you wake me up when the alarm goes off with a face licking and a great big smile, always ready to start the new day! (We call you a "Morning dog") :)

I often wonder what life was like before we knew you. I cannot remember what we used to do before you came to our family and we became a "2 dog family". Teddy you have brought us so much joy and fun and we are so glad that we found you on Dogster. And so glad that we responded to your need and brought you home. You may think that you were very lucky that we found you, because you had been through 4 homes in 7 months and could not find a good home....but WE were the lucky ones. Because Sweet Teddy, you have made our family complete. And we love you and we always will.

Tomorrow Is My 3 year anniversary in my Furever Home! thanks- Dogster!!

Tomorrow is my 3 year anniversary in my furever home!!!

YAY me!!

It was 3 years ago in October that I was featured on Dogster as Dog of the Week and it was there that myMommy first saw my picture and showed me to Daddy! On November 4th 2006, I WAS ADOPTED AND AM STILL HERE!!!! I am a stray no more.
My story is truly a Dogster success story!

I want to share with my Dogster pals my last post made by my foster mother on the day I left her home to come and live with Jake. When I read this now it seems like a million years ago.

I want to thank My foster parents (Mini's Mom) for saving me from that terrible place and for doing a Dogster page for me. And I want to thank Dogster too, for making me Dog of the Week so that my mom could find me and save me from doggy hell forever!!!!

Anyway here is my post...November 4th 2006:

Dear Diary,

Today will be my very last day that I see my foster parents because I'm going to my New Home Today!!!!. In an hour, my foster parents & I will leave home and drive to meet Jake's parents!!!!

Jake's Mom is such a great person! She said that Jake is not going to meeting spot today because he doesn't travel well and will be very hyper to see me (she said that Jake may scare me but I don't think so). She said that it doesn't matter if we won't be able to know if Jake & I will get along at first because she already feels committed to me and will not leave without me. I'm SUPER LUCKY that this family found me on dogster!!!!

As for my foster parents and Mini:
I will not forget them. Thank you for having me in your house! If it's not because of you, I wont be able to find Jake & his family. I will miss you......

Alrighty, I gotta go now diary! I gotta get ready to see my soon-to-be family.

Spooky stuff

I am scared of the spooky Hallowe'en decorations that are on our neighbours lawn.
There is a ghost and some sort of bug thing that is lying on its back, and it MOVES!!!!

I am afraid of that house and refuse to pass by it. Mommy tries to get me to pass by the house on our walks but I make her cross the street so i don't have to see it.

It is spooky.

Jake ate it.

Guess what Jake did?

Today we got a Halloween card from Casey and his family and Mommy and me were so excited.

I Kept trying to snatch the envelope from mommy to see who it was from as she was trying to read the card! There was also a Halloween pic too! She brought out a cute doggy/ghost pic! It was so nice to get that card!

So mom left the card and pic on the coffee table and went to make dinner and when she came back to the living room area, well- there was Jake. EATING OUR NEW CARD AND PIC!:(:-O:-O

HE RIPPED IT IN TO A MILLION TINY PIECES!:(

He said something about thinking he was doing a good job by recycling.

Mommy was sad. Me too.

We want to tell our buddy Casey thank you for the wonderful card and pic..and we are sorry (and SAD) that Jake ate it.

WE ARE GOING TO CAMP TOMORROW - A WEEK IN THE WOODS!!!! YAY!

Tomorrow morning, we will get up early - for Saturday- and drive up to our campsite in the woods and stay for a whole week!
Mommy keeps talking to me about camp.....I have not got a CLUE what she is talking about??:? - I am smiling at her like she is nuts.....CAMP?

I really cannot remember camp - she says we went last year.....I mean it was a year ago, Mommy! That is 7 years to a dog!

Jake remembers every year though, mom says....we get about 1/2 hour into the trip and Jake gets the scent ( it is a 3 1/2 hour drive)......he starts acting like an excited child, boogies and dances. he really looks like a goofball if you ask me. :)

....This will be my 3rd year.....Mom is not sure if I remember it year to year or not, because all I do it sit in the big honking truck and smile my BIG TEDDY SMILE!!!!

BUT HEY, I ALWAYS DO THAT. - Teddy = Smiley boy!

ANYWAY! OFF WE GO ON A NEW ADVENTURE

A day at the dog park

we HAVE NOT DONE A DIARY ENTRY FOR AWHILE! Jake and me.

Do you pups ever wonder who reads the diary entries every day? I mean someone reads them and then decides which ones are the best one...Like, THEY READ THEM ALL! Sometimes I wonder how long it takes for the Dogster diary people to go through ALL of the entries.

Well, today at the doggy park I met an English Setter who chased birds! He was so fast! And I spent so much time chasing him around the doggy park that mom and dad thought that he was a SHE. mom was saying...look, Teddy is in love with that dog, and then some guy came and called "her" MONTY!

I also made sure today that I visited every person and doggy I could just so that I could flip their water bowls over and splash in them too!

BOL again!!!

But that was nothing compared to what Jake did, when we left the park...I will let him tell you.....

My Marley girl.....a sad day.

My beautiful Marley girl crossed the bridge today.

It is a sad day indeed.

She had a wonderful smile and a kind soul and all of our Dogster pals will miss her terribly. Especially me.

My girlfriend Marley is terribly sick with cancer...today she posted this on her diary blog...and I am so sad...please read and pray for Marley. She is only 6 years old....:(

Well, the liver biopsy did not come back with very good news. It appears the cancer has spread and I have the "bad" version of hysti0cytic sarcoma, which means that there is nothing they can do for me. They will put me on steroids for a bit to hopefully help me feel better enough to eat. Everyone tells me I'm too skinny.

Who would have thought this would be me?

Well, since it is what it is, I have to accept my fate. Despite all my health issues since I was a pup, I consider myself extremely lucky. I picked good parents who took care of my boo boos and sicknesses. They fed me lots and gave me more love than any pup could ever imagine. Who could ask for a better life?

My wish for is that my parents and auntie to try not to be sad. I came into their life for a reason and they for me. It's the way things were meant to be.

To all my friends on Dogster, you have been a blessing for me and my family with all your POPs and prayers. My wish for all of you is to love your humans with all your hearts (like that isn't hard for us Golden s, huh?)

We don't know how long it will be, but when it's time have faith that I will no longer be in pain. I will finally be with my best friend ever...Angel. I can't wait to play bitey ears with her again. :)

...and finally....Teddy. I Love You. You are the cutest boyfriend a girl could ever have. I will watch over you every day and when you are ready, I will be the first one at the Bridge waiting for you. My wish for you is that you live a long and happy life with your loving family.
