A Winter Chew

It was a cold winter night and all through the house.
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Mom was wrapping presents in the other room.
So, I dash around for a quick shiba zoom.
When what do I notice by the front door?
There is carpet I hadn’t noticed before.
I decide to sneak over and have a little chew.
I discovered this is tasty, better than an old shoe.
I chew and chew a hole clear to the floor.
Then I hear mom open that bedroom door.
I continue chewing like nothing has gone wrong.
Then mom sees my deed and sings the NO song.
I don’t see what all the fuss is about.
Chewing is great, woof woof I shout!
