It's My Birthday

I am 5 today. Mom took me to PetSmart to pick out a new toy. I got a purple stuffed octopus toy. It squeaks and has dangly legs I can chew on. I am also getting a cake, but I have to wait until next week to get it. Mom is going to get it in Dallas at Three Dog Bakery. I can't wait to eat it! I guess I have to share with Yukiko and Deshi, but I want the biggest piece.

Tetsuya Was Bitten

Tetsuya was bitten on his hind leg by the temporary (overnight) foster as he snuck through a barrier and went to sniff her. I made an emergency trip to the vet, and Tetsu has now has an E-collar, stitches, antibiotics, and pain meds. Feel better Tetsu!

Mmmm bird seed!

Mom bought two bird seed feeders and I've been nibbling on seed that has fallen onto the ground. Mom always stops me and calls me to come inside. But, it is ever so tasty! If you haven't tried bird seed - I highly recommend it. It is a bit dry though. It could use a side of salad dressing.

Early Birthday Party

I had my one week early birthday party today. It was a lot of fun. I met up with my shiba pals Kuma and Ronin at Landa Park for a walk. Afterward, we went to Freddy's Frozen Custard and had cake. I got some cool toys - a new ball, a basketball toy, and an ostrich toy too. What a fun day. Now, it is time for bed. Zzzzzzzz...

Poop in the house? Who me? Couldn't be!

So, I really didn't want to go outside today... Mom made me go out to potty a couple of times. The other times throughout the day when Deshi and Yukiko would go out I refused and would run around wanting to play with my gingerbread man toy. After all, it was cold and rainy out - much nicer to stay inside.

Well, later that evening when Mom went to work I found myself in quite the predicament. Dad was still on his way home from work and I felt the need to poop. What to do? I asked Yukiko to open the back door, but she didn't know how to open it. So, that was out. So, I would just have to poop in the house...

But, where to poop? In the kitchen would be easy cleanup for the parents... so, no that is out. On the couch would make it easy for them to find, but no - I like to nap on the couch. Maybe in the hallway? Nah. Oh, I know... the perfect spot! Right in front of Deshi's crate! Maybe the parents will think he somehow got out of his crate and pooped and got back in his crate! Perfect! So, that is where I pooped.

Walkies and a surprise!

Mom took Yukiko, Deshi, and I for walkies today. We walked all around a couple of neighborhoods then on a sidewalk off of a somewhat busy street. While on that particular sidewalk I spotted a KONG bone toy. It was dirty and looked like it had been there on the sidewalk for quite awhile. Deshi and I both sniffed at it and Yukiko couldn't care less about it. Since it wasn't next to anyone's house and obviously didn't belong to any dog in particular Mom decided we could have the toy. She brought it home and it is soaking in the sink with hot water and liquid soap. I can't wait till we get to play with it!

On a related note about our walkie - while along that somewhat busy street Mom noticed in certain places there was broken glass from beer bottles. She was having to make us walk clear out of the way so we would not cut our feet. People littering and throwing glass onto a sidewalk irks Mom and us too. Why can't people dispose of their trash properly? Grrrrrr.

My Valentine's gift from Yuki-san

My shiba pal Yuki-san gave me some yummy Three Dog Bakery treats for Valentine's Day and a cool new loofa dog toy. He also wrote me a haiku:

To whom it may concern...

... Mom dropped Deshi and I off at the groomers'... there was talk about a bath, brush, nail trim, and something about anal glands?! I am desperately seeking someone to get me out of here. Mom said she would be back at 7pm tonight to pick us up. That is too long! By then I'll be clean, brushed, have trimmed nails, and we won't even talk about the anal glands! If you only have enough room in your car to free one shiba from the groomers' - take me. Let Deshi get cleaned! He is so mellow and laid back he won't know what is going on till it is over anyway. Please, I implore you - get me outta the grooming salon!
