Nicknames: The Poo, Poo Poo, Lezzie, Alexia-Formally
Birthday: April 4th 2001
Likes: I like sleeping under the covers more than anything. I love sunbathing and following my mommy around. I am always by her side. And leather is my catnip. The bigger the dog, the better. Oh, and did I mention BELLY RUBS?!
Pet-Peeves: I hate being separated from the family. I also don't like bikes, thunder, fireworks, or kids. They just scare me!
Favorite Toy: I have this really great stuffed Canadian goose that I love. It's about as big as I am and I carry it everywhere. I also LOVE the laser pointer!!
Favorite Food: Usually whatever you're eating!
Favorite Walk: I will go anywhere as long as I'm with you.
Best Tricks: She has so many!
Arrival Story: I was born in Phoenix City, Alabama/Columbus, Georgia. I am part of the Windjammer Basenji's. (Anyone else out there?? I want to find my real brothers & sisters!!) Mom got me when she was in college at the University of Georgia. We spent many years going to the intramural fields before we moved about 700 miles north! Burrr... it's cold here!!
On May 3rd, we'll be walking to raise money to help homeless dogs find loving homes. The event is part of the Reston Pet Fiesta and is called the Tails on Trails Dog Walk. This page is for those who know the love of a dog. For those who have seen first hand what the love of a pet can do for people... Let's make a difference...Sponsor us today!!
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear. When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger. And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest--and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

So it's the third week that my new brother has been around. Boy, the longer he stays, the younger he gets! I swear some days he's crazy! All he wants to do is Indianapolis 500 all over the house and then come bite my tail to get me to play!! Mommy tries to catch him sometimes and he just flies right over her! She says I have to teach him all my good ways. Mommy loves me best, I know it. That's because I'm such a good girl. I have to put Miles in his place sometimes. He's just too wild right now. I think he thinks he won the jackpot with being adopted by my parents and now he's gotta live life at full throttle! He's a good boy though. This morning I even crept in his bed to snuzzle with him. Mommy caught me though.
So Mom and I have been looking for a little brother for me. We tried for Truman in Florida and Rocky in Georiga- but neither of them worked out; local applicants are better. We found a potential brother in a shelter in Penn; but he's not available for adoption yet and so we haven't been to see him because he's still VERY far away. We found him on Petfinder.
We've also been in touch with a breeder who has a "retired" show dog who is 2 yrs old. He has something going on with his leg where it twiches when he moves so he's leaving the show world. Haven't seen any pics of him though... so I don't know what to make of him. His personality sounds right. But I worry that he might have health problems in the future. Just not sure. Will have to meet him first. His owner has been out of town so we haven't set up a meeting yet.
Mom already bought my future brother and I matching collars so as soon as we find "the one"- he'll have a loving home with open arms to come to!! :)
