Arrival Story: Raja Babu, my one-year-old Lhasa-Apso/Shih-Tzu mix really needed a doggy friend. So, in 2004 I began to look for another dog. I had always wanted a pure-bred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. At a local fair, I ran into a lady with a beautiful sable Corgi, and she gave me the breeder's name. I called, and her dog had a new litter. So, Raja and I went to Cresswell, Oregon to look at the pups. I wanted a female and the runt of the litter. And there she was looking as cute as only a Corgi puppy can. Her face said, "Love me, love me." Raja really liked playing with her. So, we brought little Cassandra home. Raja had to make quite an adjustment though. He was not as thrilled with her once I put her in the car. But over the two years they have been together, they have become great buddies. Raja still remains top dog, and Cassandra is his little helper.
She goes by PC and her AKC registered name is Cassandra Queen of Tikopia.
Bio: Cassandra's story. My mommy thinks Raja is Top Dog. Actually, I just let the little furball think he is top dog! My mommy gives me bigger treats because she thinks I am the underdog. Woof, I am so clever.
There is a cat in the house, Poka. The cat is very naughtly. She tries to scare me. I just avoid her, sometimes I walk a Corgi mile to avoid her.
My favorite game is to play Doggie CNN with Raja. We sit by the window and bark as all the dogs walk by. If you want an update on Eugene Dog News tune into 1275 Woof Eugene! We have lots of fun. Lots of doggy jokes. We introduce dogs to the neighborhood, and tell them who is the boss!
The cats in the neighborhood really bother me. They sit right outside our window and lick their whiskers! Doggies, can you believe it?
I am a happy Corgi. I love my Mom and Raja. I also love Poka the cat.

Morning comes, and you love your tea
The computer blinks, and there you sit
Me, I love food in my bowl
A pet, a kiss and a window-seat…
You love me, and I love you
Isn’t that the way it is written to be?
Outdoor clothes and sturdy shoes
Off you go on the bike path slow
While I wait by the door and sigh
Oh dear, the burley is lost in mail…
You love me, and I love you
Isn’t that the way it is written to be?
A bone to chew in the afternoon sun
A roll in the grass, and the neighbor’s cat
Perched atop the fence with tail held high
Oh no, my chew I must hide…
You love me, and I love you
Isn’t that the way it is written to be?
Evening walk in the weakening sun
Along the river where daffodils bloom
The bird’s call on a distant tree
And I do my last Frisbee run…
You love me, and I love you
Isn’t that the way it is written to be?
At night, I lay curled on the bed
Like embers on a cold winter night
Our love kindles and warms our hearth
You are my Mom, and I am your baby
Isn’t that the way it was written to be!
You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.
In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?
For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
"A World That Stands as One"

….That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another. The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down….
…So history reminds us that walls can be torn down. But the task is never easy. True partnership and true progress requires constant work and sustained sacrifice. They require sharing the burdens of development and diplomacy; of progress and peace. They require allies who will listen to each other, learn from each other and, most of all, trust each other.
