One of my buds from Schnauzers Rule's Mom has a blog. She's featuring my picture today:

http://baddoghairday.blogspot.com/

It was a hot summer day, and Momma gave us all a bath. I decided to try to dry my face in the dust. Bad idea - I ended up getting a second bath in one day. Momma was thoroughly miffed at the time, as was I at getting a second bath.

I've been here at The Bridge 13 months today, and Momma misses me terribly. Momma saw the picture and laughed as she cried - It's good to see I can still make her laugh, too.

It's been a year

It was one year ago yesterday that I had to leave Momma. I don't think she realized the date, but I know I was on her mind without her knowing why. She still feels so bad about how sick I got, and how long she fought to try to help me get better for a little while longer. She feels guilty that I never had a home with kids because I loved them so, but I had that, and they neglected me and dumped me, she regrets that I was never somebody''s favorite, but who but somone who's known 200 Schnauzers would have realized how unique and cool I was?

It's ok, Mom. Syd and Annie and I watch over you and Rocke and Raoudi.
When Princess plays with the toys only I liked, when she sings with the sirens like I did, when you look at her and think her hair is the same pale silver as mine that you loved - it's me telling you I''m with you.

I loved you, and I wanted to get better. I loved nothing better than to make you laugh. You know I delighted in every ear rub, was so proud to do my tricks for you, celebrated every toy I ever got. Nothing made me happier than for you to call me a good boy, or to hear you say my sI know you helter fee was the best $29 you ever spent. I loved our life together, and know you loved me. If love were enough to make me well, I'd have lived forever.

Momma misses me

I would have been 14 this month. We never knew just what day, so we always celebrated on Thanksgiving. Momma would always find time to make banana biscotti no matter how busy she was cooking other things. We'd watch the parade while Momma cooked or cleaned, then she'd hurry home from where ever she was to watch the dog show with us.
This year there is no biscotti, no cooking going on at all - Mom and Poppa are going out. The TV isn't working, and it's kinda just another day.
I had to let Momma know it was ok - that I'm still here, and love goes on. I whispered in our new foster sister's ear, and got her to get out my favorite toys - the grunting hedgehog nobody plays with, Rocke's fox that nobody's challenged him for in all these months, the chipmonks from the hide-a-squirrel, but Momma didn't get it.
So, Princess and Rocke and Raoudi went out, and I knew just what to do. When a siren sounded out on the main road, I told her to sing with it, and she did, just like I always did. My two little brothers joined in, though they bark rather than howl. It was just like old times - howling and barking fit to wake the dead. Momma ran to see what was the matter, then laughed.
She asked Princess if she'd like some banana biscotti, and said she'd see if she cold find an open store after she and Poppa go eat.
Thanks, Princess!

I wasn't getting much better and was barely eating. The vet didn't feel she could do any more for me. Mom was so sad when she brought me a burger and I turned it down, and knew it was time.
I was very quiet with my chin propped on Mom's arm - I always loved to prop my chin, especially on Mom. They gave me one shot, and Mom sang to me and told me I was the best thing $29 ever could have bought, and that I'd brought her 9 years of laughter since that day at the shelter when I was ony 4.
They gave me another shot, and suddenly, here I was with Syd and Ralph and my beautiful girlfriend Miracle, watching over Mom. I wish I could make her laugh now - she sure needs it.
Rocke, keep her warm at night, and Raoudi, please be silly and get her to smile. Annie, I know you're even older than me, but protect our yard from cats and our house from mice and crickets as long as you can. To you foster boys, I hope you find a home where they love you like Mom loved me.
Mom, I'm not as far away as you think. Every time you feel an elbow in your ribs at night, every time you scratch sombody's ears and they thump their foot, every time somone makes you laugh even if you don't feel like it, know that I'm here.

Love,
Bogart

Oh, Deer!

My sister's appetite hasn't been great, so Momma figures she's old and should get whatever she wants. Well, helloooo - I'm only like 2 years younger. Shouldn't I get goodies, too?
I still have really good days, but some bad ones, too, when the weater changes. The vet says it has to do with the barometric pressure and the fluid buildup on my heart.
Saturday I was jumping around because Aunt Barb and Uncle Steve were here, today I'm moving like I'm 110 years old and coughing.
Well, dear Aunt Barb sent us something called venison. I figured, it had a funny name and was skeptical, until I found out those silly humans weren't calling it what it really was: deer meat!
Of course, Mom tries to stetch it out with rice, but I'm a pro at eating around what I don't want. Yummy!

Let us eat cake!

My birthday is coming up - I'm gonna be a teenager!

Ms. Cheap went to Dollar Tree and found some little silicon cake pans, and found cake mix on sale. Now, Ms. Cheap aka Momma loves nothing better than a bargain.

So, I got my birthday cake early. Not even a dogie cake, but a real human cake, shaped like a star. Yum! Momma says I'm so skinny what could it hurt. It's a small pan, so there was just nough for us all to have a little piece, but mine was bigger.
Sis says she wants Mom to use the heart pan and make a pink one for her birthday. Me, I'm just gald to get cake.

Then today, the nice Dogster people put a turkey on my page. Hope it'll give Momma some ideas.. You don't even have to seperate eggs to cook a turkey, right?

Too many sick schnauzers

What a month it's been. First uncle Ralph was terribly sick, then I went to the specialist. Ralph and I are doing a lot better now.

Yesterday my sister Anastasia went out alone very early and came in limping. The doctor says it's her back, and she's on some good drugs that seem to be helping.

Then today I find out my wonderful girlfriend Miracle is in the hospital! Please say a prayer for her, and for sis, too.

Momma says we're turning her hair gray, and the gray hairs stand straight up. She muttered something about looking like somebody named Albert Einstein. I don't know who that is, but Mom just looks like Mom to me.

First, thanks too everyone who said prayers, crossed paws, sent good thoughts, lit candles and whatever else you did. I have a serious heart problem, but I'm feeling much better, more active and "myself" according to Momma.

I go back to the heart specialist next week, and we can't wait for her to see my improvement.

Thing is, I'm on a bunch of medicines: 4 twice a day, one once a day, one once a week and one as needed.

Momma scrunches up a piece of bread around them and gives them to me. She says I'm a real pro at eating the bread and spitting out the pills. She thought my late brother, Syd was king of the 'pill patooey', but says I've topped him. One pill in particular I always get out, the rest just sometimes.

This morning she gave me the "Vetmedin" in a piece of bread by it's self, and I spit it out. She tried again, same thing. So, she wrapped it up with the lasix, enalapril and antibiotic (taking because they stuck a needle in my belly) and I spit out it and the lasix. She tried again and got the lasix in me, but out come the vetmedin. She finally put it in another big piece of bread, dipped the bread in some canned food gravy, and gave it to me, and I ate it on the 5th try.

Todays total: 1.5 pieces of bread, 4 pills. Momma called me a 'stinker' and then a funny name: what's a carboholic?

Can't wait for after work, when I get the spironolactone. Anybody wanna put money on how much bread that takes?

My trip to the heart doctor

Well folks, here's the news: The doctor may not be able to help me live longer, and we don't know how long I will, but she thinks she can make me feel better as long as I do. She took a whole, whole lot of fluid out of my abdomen, and I'm already walking better and wanting to eat more, and hassling Mom for food.
I'm on a lot of medicines Mom wonders how she's going to afford, but she says she'll find a way.
Momma about cried when the vet brought me out and said "he looks so small". The vet said to give me a special food to help me gain weight, but so far Momma can't find it to buy, so I had my normal food plus a bowl of rice tonight.
They said I may have something called Cushings Disease, but the first priority was to help my heart, and I go back in a week.
Mom thinks I feel better and am more active. I know I'm hungry, and am staring mom down until I get a cookie!
