Arrival Story: I went to the Sacramento county shelter as my last trip to look for a second angel and companion for my other dog Marbles. I looked at tons of dogs, but none seemed to match my personality. I was in the last row (the female house), with my best friend Alyssa who was ahead of me. I heard my friend say, "She is going to just love you, it's all over now." Curious as to what my friend was going on about, I walked to the kennel she was in front of, and understood. I was first on the waiting list, as Lapis had come in as a stray and had to be held for a few days. I went back to the shelter every day they were open just to spend time with her, and then showed up first thing the morning she became available. She had to be spayed, so I had to wait 2 more days still to bring her home. So I filled the next day getting her new leash, collar, halter, bowl, toys, treats, and a new name tag. I wanted to be prepared for my little girls homecoming. I picked her up the next afternoon, extremely happy to see me, but unsure about getting into a car. She did fine in the car, and has ever since.

Bio: Lapis is quite the jumper. Her hind legs are like coiled springs. She is not very big at all, 41 lbs, however she can jump a 6 ft fence easily. It was really fun catching her coming back over ;ob. She has since learned the fine art of target kissing, which means she can jump up with out touching you and peck you square on the lips before you know what happened. We have cultured this trait in her, much to the dismay of some non dog peeps. She is a patio table dog in the evening after dinner with us. When she gets excited she turns circles and jumps from one couch to another and sometimes uses me as her vertical trampoline. We try to not get her excited in the house anymore. ;o)
