Arrival Story: We adopted her in February of 2005 and our lives have been forever changed. She has brought so much happiness to our family and we can't imagine life without her. She was approx. 2 months old when we brought her home and my boss gave me several days "maternity leave" to get her acclimated to her new house. Only someone who loves their furry babies will understand this statement: Often I look at Maggie and just well up with tears of thankfulness to God for sending me the best little girl in the world!
Bio: My name is Maggie Mae, but my family usually just calls me Mags. My Mommy tells me I'm a very beautiful little girl with mostly black fur but with several white spots. I'm a long-haired Dachshund and Border Collie mix I had BIG paws and LONG floppy ears when I was a baby - but since I've gotten bigger, I've grown into them. I can usually get my way because I'm so cute. I love my brother Matt! He lets me eat his socks....with his feet in them! My daddy didn't want a dog, but Mommy was so sad that Daddy let her have me to make her happy again. And guess what - Mom says that I'm a Daddy's Girl. Hmmmmm - I thought he didn't want a dog. Mommy needed lots of hugging and kissing and Matt had gotten too big to do that - so that's my job. MY MAIN JOB IS KISSING MOMMY! I really try hard to be a good girl but that sure is hard and sometimes I do get in trouble and have to go in time-out. THAT ISN'T FUN!!!
Hi to all my paw-ty pals! It's Maggie Mae! My life has been crazy for the last 2 years...with mama's foot surgery, daddy's job change, brother graduating from HS and going to college. Whew, it makes me paw-ty tired! But, I'm doing great! I turned four on my birthday, Dec. 5, 2008. I stay busy guarding my house and loving my family.
Yesterday we had a great surprise! I heard mama say that March had just roared in like a lion! We had LOTS and LOTS of white, fluffy stuff called SNOW!!! I love snow!! I play in it, and eat it, and roll in it! Mama wants me to just "go out and potty" but I have so much fun...I just can't stop. Can you believe she was "fussing at me"? Apparently, she was cold or something...maybe she should grow some fur too! Woof Woof!
Me and brother were waiting for her in the truck today, listening to some good music and she had the NERVE to bring out these stupid things for my paws. While she was trying them on me, she was telling my brother that they would protect my paws in the snow. I still don't know why he was laughing at me. What the heck is so funny? Anyway, I DID NOT like them at all and shook off those dumb things immediately. She tried them on me again and this time made them a little tighter...took some doing, but WOOF!! WOOF!! I shook the dumb things off again! Well, she was pretty annoyed to have to take them back in the store and get a refund. My brother wouldn't stop laughing...what is his problem?
Hopefully, mama won't be so long writing notes about me.
Honestly, I don't know what to do with my Mommy! She means well, but doesn't give my web page near the effort she should! It's been over 5 months since she has updated it.
Some neat things have happened since then! My brother went to Mexico right after school was out, for 3 long weeks. Well, that wasn't neat for me, I missed him so much! I really don't know what he did without me? But, he learned more Spanish. Oh, he's sooooo smart! My brother can speak Spanish, German, Latin and now he's learning Chinese! He taught me some Spanish and I'm gonna woof it at y'all - "Hola!" How's that for smart? I keep telling him German is my thing. "Hallo Hundfreunde!" - ya know, being a Dachshund and all!
Hey guess what?! I'm a Movie Star and didn't know it! You know that movie "Fire House Dog"? Well, my Mom entered me in a contest to have my picture at the ending credits. We only heard from the people one time, so we thought I didn't make it. Well, me and Mom were watching the movie on TV and at the end was my picture, along with many other dogs! That was a great contest! Of course, I am joking about the whole "Movie Star" thing (well, kinda, sorta, maybe - Who's your Queen?) There were so many pictures of beautiful, friendly pups. I think we are all "Movie Stars!"
Paws up for Dogster and all my pup pals!!!
Well gotta go now. I'll hound (no pun intended) Mom to keep updating my pics and diary!
