Pet-Peeves: Grooming, thunderstorms, the rare occasion Mama has to put me in the 'hide me' carrier
Favorite Toy: She doesn't play with toys.......bummer
Favorite Food: Anything Mama is eating.....doesn't mean I get it tho....
Favorite Walk: Anywhere Mama is carrying her
Best Tricks: Hikes her leg like she's gonna potty on you, when all she wants is her belly rubbed. See pic #7.
Arrival Story: I bartered for her when she was 3 1/2. She was supposed to
be a breeding dog. But that didn't work out. They got my spare
antiques and I got her. I made out like a bandit !!!!!!!
Bio: Celebrities have nothing on Angel. People take her picture
when we are out in public. We have been FOLLOWED just so
someone could see her. Going out shopping with her has been
described as 'hard' due to all the attention she gets. She has been allowed in places that just don't allow dogs, but let her
in anyway (not grocery stores or restaurants, we don't go there) She has lifted the spirits of the depressed and caused
the other 99 0/0 to smile........she enchants everyone. I used
to take her to work. She had so many 'groupies' there, I started
bringing a camera to take pictures of her and her groupies.
She now has a photo album of over 30 in her fan club, tho, I
didn't get them all............Life with Angel is a real adventure.
She's won a few on-line and off-line beauty contests. I have
her pictures taken professionally and if they turn out good,
I buy the copyright and negatives (therefore any pictures of
Angel are copyrighted and owned by Mom) There is enough
Angel material (work and public happenings) to fill a small
book. Maybe one day we'll get her her own page............
Some more about Angel.......She has had 3 parts to her little
life.......her home life, work life and public life.....
Her home life is really laid back, literally.....you can find her
laid on the sofa, laid out on the bed, on the chair in the bedroom, on 'her sofa' which is on my sofa or in her computer
bed in my lap while I'm on the computer. She's always laid out
somewhere. When I got her she really had no personality all
her own....but she certainly has developed one. A silly one
too......I love it. I have a really bad back and this bulging disk
in my neck doesn't help matters, so when the pressure gets
too much and I lay down to get it off, here she comes. She
gets on the bed with me and gets next to my shoulder and
plops those little feet on my chest and gets nose to nose with me STARING at me....it's a contest to see who gives first. Will
she start licking me first or will I crack up laughing first......
she doesn't give kisses....she WASHES.......oh yeah. And if you
start laughing she gets even more 'vigorous' in her washing and
DON'T OPEN YOUR MOUTH !!! hahahahha!!! She'll wash inside
that too. I have bit her tongue a couple of times trying to close
my mouth before she gets going in that direction. If I try to
move my face away, she plops that little paw on my face and
pulls it back so she can wash some more. No, she doesn't kiss,
she washes. She'll wash your face, your arm, your neck.........
She doesn't play with toys, but we have made up this little
game where she 'pretends' to eat my hand. She just kinda
mouths it and thinks that's great fun. She likes to rub her
face back and forth across the back of the couch and gets so
manic when she does this that sometimes I think she is going
to go over head first. When I'm on the sofa, she likes to put
her feet on my chest and stare at me....another contest....as if
she's saying, "I'm waiting....when are you gonna start rubbing
me?".....When she's getting kisses on her head, she likes to press it even harder into your face to make sure you don't stop.
She's a trip. She is my baby......She follows me into the bathroom, the living room and the bedroom and to the computer, but not the kitchen as that is where she gets her
bath.....unless I say the "T" word (treat) and then she's right
on my heels.
On Angel's public life.......yes, she does get that much attention out in public. Taking her out in public IS time
consuming. But it has ranged from sweet, poignant to downright comical. We were standing on the sidewalk one day
waiting for a Jeep to go by and the passengers were 'rubbernecking' as hard as they could. They parked by
my car and when Angel and I got to it, she got passed around to all 3....the last lady snuggled her up and said, "Angel, I sure
did need some lovins' today"......another lady in the fabric store
had lost her 'baby' a few months before......after about a 10 min.
visit with Angel, she told Angel, "Angel, you have made my
day"........Gary came to where I used to work one day..I took
Angel out to visit with him......he held her and told her..."Angel,I sure was down til I came in to see you"........this
happened all the time. I get really annoyed reading articles about celebrities that call ahead to clear out a store and instruct the staff to "Don't speak to me". How do they know
if someone hasn't been going thru a traumatic time in their
life and this one little thing, speaking to a celebrity would
perk their spirits up.....how do they know. How RUDE. Angel has only not stopped to 'speak' to a fan once and that was
because Mama's back /neck hurt so bad that she just couldn't
stop and stand any longer. But that time did have a comical
element cause this lady started to get off her cell phone
conversation just to see Angel. We were going out as she was
coming in and as she approached, I heard her say, "Oh my God,
you ought to see this little dog, I'll call you back....".....but I
didn't stop as I just HAD to sit down. Another comical moment was the day we stepped on the sidewalk and encountered these 2 nicely dressed ladies. I was putting Angel
on her blankie in the shopping cart seat....they stopped me for
a visit. One lady said....."Angel, this is the first time a dog has
ever made me feel underdressed"......cracked me up!!!!!
Although she has a really silly side at home, her personna out
in public is so quiet and reserved that she very very often
gets mistaken for a stuffed animal. That cracks me up too.
She'll shift her weight or move a little bit and someone nearby
will go, "Oh my, it's real, it moved, I thought it was a stuffed
There are so many "Angel stories"............she is such a good
little 'goodwill ambassador' out in public. And at home she is
just my baby. Like right now......she is curled up in her
computer bed in my lap. And when I log off and she hears
Kenny Chesney go "See ya later alligator", her little head will
pop up cause she knows it's all over with.............................
Oct. 4, 2008
Angel passed away tonight at approx. 7:45pm.
This is the worst night of my life....for I have lost the LOVE
of my life.
Mama said that she has seen her e-mail adding up and sees all the
lovely presents everyone is leaving. THANK YOU so much she said
to tell you..... But she just CAN'T come here right now. She just
can't. It may be a while before she can come back to read all the
messages. But she just can't come here right now.
She needs to go get a tissue. Her face is leaking.
